Description
2020-21 Isles. First time doing this so don't kill me.

-Barzal & Pulock & Toews get short term deals but still paid fairly. Interested to see if they would match an offer sheet that meets the 4 first round pick compensation threshold. Lou said a few months ago they would match any OS on Barzal but given the impact on the cap, they may not be able to do that, and the only teams that would be able to take on the contract & have the first rounders are teams like OTT, ANA, DET, LA (lottery teams at least for the next couple years). Do you take the risk of hoping one of those picks turn into the kind of player Barzal is or keep him for 13% of the cap?

-Feel like Leddy is always in trade talks, and always with MTL, so I'll play along. Think he's worth a first, but i'd take 2 2s, can carry the puck, play the PP, zone entries. Still only 28 and a fair contract.

-Boychuk is just a salary dump. Devils only have 3 D signed to the roster next year. Could help with the development of a guy like Ty Smith, and brings a lot of experience to rebuild that organization.

-Clutterbuck: they're (probably) not bringing back martin. its time to let cal go, 4th line is no where near as good as it used to be, age, injuries, etc. give up a mid round pick and get whatever you can get back.

-Could throw Ladd on LTIR, but i have no idea how that works because hes clearly not hurt.

-If a rebuilding team will take Uncle Leo to build their culture, ill drive him to the airport.

Saved some Cap in case i was low-balling the FAs. Have the cap space to go get Boeser even though i have no idea how they'd do that, or why VAN apparently values Toffoli higher than him. Team still needs a ton of more offensive help. I recognize I'm criticizing this team for not having enough high end scoring, and i didnt really address it, but idk how you do with their cap situation and tradeable assets.

Detroit would need far more than a 5th for taking on Clutterbuck.

I agree. $3.5M for 2 seasons is going to take more sweetener.

Both Jersey and Detroit are going to need a bit more for taking on those contracts.

MTL isn’t giving you 1 second round pick for Leddy, we won’t take 5.5M for 2 years. Even if you drop to a 3rd round pick we’ll pass.

I like Clutterbuck for his style of play, but he is 32 and making 3.5 million and has 2 years left on his deal. Sorry a rebuilding team does not take on these kind of contracts. This is a deal a team in playoff contention would make.

Leddy is an easy no from MTL. With a flat cap I dont think you will see teams to willing to take on salary unless it's an absolute steal for them

MTL is a direct copetitor of NYI... they won't help them that fast with their cap issue.
You would need something better... Like Bailey + Leddy... For Armia, Kulak, 2nd.

Armia > Bailey
Leddy > Kulak

I wouldn’t do Bailey + Leddy vs Armia Kulak straight up. What’s wrong with you taking capdump and trading players as good but making half the salary the other is making

Leddy isn't a reason for the islanders being in cap trouble. It's Boychuk, Clutterbuck, Ladd, and Komarov. I just think Leddy's redundant on the islanders when they have Toews, a cheaper/less talented version of Leddy.

Also out of your mind if you think Armia is better than Bailey.

It's your opinion and I respect it... But I do think Bailey could bring more on the table...

At 5M ? Who wants a middle six winger at 5M when the capspace is so important. Gourde doesn’t have value because he’s a middle six winger making 5.166M I think
