Team Attempt 1789

Team: 2020-21 Buffalo Sabres
Initial Creation Date: Jul. 17, 2020
Published: Jul. 17, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Nothing seems that crazy to make happen.
-Idk, is this a playoff team?
-Draft Alexander Holtz (RW) at 8OA
-Modest UFA signings.
-Some cap space for in season transactions
-not wasting a buyout on Okposo (who we should be able to send to Seattle) or Hutton (no need to prolong his cap hit by a year)
-Not sure what you canuck fans feel about that trade?

The value is fair but I think the Canucks are better off trading Demko to get rid of Loui

Ullmark>Demko. And the Rangers already have Trouba, Fox and Deangelo on the right side.

That's a big overpayment for Demko, and I'm not even a Mittelstadt fan.

He probably forgot to trade or sign him.

Ullmark 17-14-3 .915 save percentage, 2.69 GAA

Demko 13-10-2 .905 save percentage, 3.06 GAA.

Seriously? He played in 27 games, and only 10 games before last year. It was his rookie year. Ullmark isn't better then demko

Why would they want a 2021 2nd instead of our 2020? We didn't do good this year.

I'm trying to save it's too much if it's our 2020 pick.

Demko and Ulmark statistically are basically identical. Ulmark is just a couple of years further in his development and so is a little bit more proven. I would be happy to add Demkp as our 2G but not at this cost. I would offer the 2021 2nd along with Pilut, but that would be my limit. We have 2 quality prospects coming and there are soo many options for 2G out there that would cost soo much less to acquire and while Demko appears promising he has not proved much at the nhl level yet.

My biggest issue with acquiring Ryan Strome isn't that it will take premium assets because it appears it won't. It is the contract he seems likely to sign. Nearly 6 million AAV on a flat cap to a player that is a career 42 points per 82 player that is not defensively responsible. Seems like a big regrettable mistake with that contract.

Ryan Strome is a product of Panarin. I think there would have to be more coming back for Buffalo to make that trade.

Not my first option, but when I saw that proposal by a rangers fan, it peaked my interest.

My number choice, which I know many if not all disagree with, is Monahan. If calagy is going to look to do some major moves, he would be a perfect 2nd line center imo.
