Real money or not a cap hit is a cap hit. The Leafs set the price, 6.25 m= a 1st. Louis is two more years, that's multiple 1sts, add a flat cap and boom Boeser. Only 2 teams care about real money vs flat cap right now, Ottawa and Detroit and only 1 of those has owner approval for a high budget, so good luck trying to negotiate with a small number of people willing to take the contract.

If the cap was increasing then you have leaverage, it means the cap floor increases and teams need to meet it. Now, same cap floor, bunch of teams under pressure, bend them the **** over

once again, just because the leafs overpaid to move Marleau doesn't mean other teams will follow suit. Also, Marleau refused to play for Carolina and they knew they would have to buy him out so it was a different situation. It wont be multiple firsts to move Eriksson, not a chance.

So do tell what team will take on 12 million in dead cap for free, or at a low cost?

12 mil? I assume you mean spread out over two years because Eriksson only makes 6 mill each year. like you said, Ottawa, Detroit, and other bottom feeder teams would all be interested in a Virtanen+Eriksson deal. And also I never said for free or low cost. Virtanen is an attractive piece for alot of teams. Hes exponentially been getting better and he still has room to grow because power forwards take longer.

Virtanen would be your third best right shot forward...

Ok. And our 3rd beat right shot forward is an AHLer, so that’s not saying much. And it doesn’t change the issues with his attitude.

Well Gallagher #1, Suzuki #2, Virtanen #3, Armia #4. Armia isnt an AHLer lol. I cant speak on his attitude but a lot of times those rumours are misleading and just clickbait

Forgot about Suzuki being right handed. Virtanen was out in public at a nightclub without a mask just before he was supposed to join the team, and there’s a reason he’s not on Vancouver’s top 4 lines right now. While I would love to add someone with his skill in a vacuum, I don’t want someone with all of the off-ice and mental issues.

Yes I did hear about that, but dude, the kid is 24. Like I get he made a mistake. No question about it. But I think he’ll learn from this lesson

He might learn, but Montreal isn’t really the place for kids with attitude problems. One of the team’s mottos is “Attitude is everything” and the team jumped on the opportunity to move problem attitudes like Subban and Galchenyuk.

Untrue that Marleau's deal set the price at $6 million for one year = one first, therefore 2 years = 2 firsts. Eriksson's contract is almost identical to David Backes' contract, with the added bonus to the receiving team that on the second day of the off-season, Eriksson will be owed only $5 million in real money for the rest of his contract. So if the Canucks were to retain $1.5 million, the receiving team would essentially be getting a bottom-6 forward for $1 million per year.

Untrue that only Detroit and Ottawa are the only 2 teams that care about real money vs cap right now. It is rumored, and highly likely to be true, that both Anaheim and New Jersey have internal caps, and Florida is equally likely to be in the "reduce payroll" mode. Anaheim's current payroll is over $8.3 million less than the cap hit.

I can see a variety of possible trades along the lines of the Backes-Kase deal. A comparable deal with Anaheim would be Max Jones for Eriksson, Virtanen (high-end of the range) or Jett Woo (low end of the range) and the Vancouver 2021 first. There are several permutations and combinations of this exchange that would be reasonable.

Yes he is

Well apparently he isn't good enough to beat Erikson as the 15th foward in Vancouver right now...

Healthy scratch = Value is going ⬇️

I mean I wouldn't say attitude problem. I think the kid made an honest mistake and he definitely regrets it. He wasn't thinking properly but hes only 23 and kids make mistakes.

He has off-ice issues since 2016... You can find many articles about it.
