I think you could get a 2nd for Duclair but only a 3rd for Brown. Brown is a bottom-6 grinder on most competitive teams.

I think Connor Brown would go for more than a 2nd right now. He’s been very solid.

I'm just looking at the last time he was on an offensively minded team: Toronto. I expect most teams to as well, as although he is playing very well his ice time has essentially doubled from last year.

Canes would be interested in Duclair for a 3rd.

Poor Duclair can never seem to find a home.. lol

Not that the rebuild isn't still underway, but I would be a bit surprised to see Ottawa amass more draft picks. If someone comes calling with 2nd + prospect for either Brown or Duclair, they'd be dumb to not listen, but both players seem like they could be a long term fit within the rebuild.

I wouldn't trade Duke for less than what we got for Dzingel, and I wouldn't even entertain the idea of trading Connor Brown unless there's a 1st + (which is totally unreasonable).

I like Duke, and definitely wouldn't trade him for that cheap, but I'm not convinced he's a long term player for Ottawa. I think we'll get a much better sense of where he stands after this season, but I don't know how you give him more than a 1-2 year deal this summer. I'd love to be wrong, but I have a feeling he'll be pushed out in a couple of years, probably by some combination of Abramov, Formenton and any number of LWs the Sens could pick up in the upcoming draft.

Connor Brown on the other hand is a guy you definitely hang on to, unless you get a ridiculously good offer. He's not a guy you build around, but he's an important piece in my opinion. He's an incredibly effective two way, middle six PK guy, but even more he's a great leader to have on a young team. He's going to have a letter next year imo, and he's a guy who will be a Senator for a long time.

He’s not a 3rd liner. He can play up and down your lineup where he’s needed. The guy is a Swiss Army knife

That’s why I thought a 2nd for him was appropriate. You don’t get a first for a guy like that but I’d also never give him up for a 3rd. Duke has more skill but Brown is a better player overall

He's a 3rd liner on any contender. He's very limited in what he can do. His skating is very meh, and he's got a decent shot, but his distribution is meh. He's a run of the mill 3rd liner.

Brown can play up and down the lineup, plays all situations and is very consistent.

Everyone said Pageau wouldnt net a 1st, let alone a 1st+2nd+3rd. Coaches and GM's love players like Brown, and considering he is young and RFA, a 3rd is selling short on him.
