Minnesota Wild Realistic
Why would they trade Khakonen, arguably the future franchise goalie, for practically nothing?

Wilds Offseason - My first armchair GM
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ALitteral</b></div><div>Flyers would take that trade. I think most teams would. Stallock seems capable and has a very affordable contract. I'd expect better return if the Wild ship him out.
If you are keen on saving the cap space for Fiala for next season, I would try to weaponize the money. There are plenty of teams looking to unload overpaid players on the last year of their contract... or retain salary and flip for more picks depending on the team's direction.</div></div>
Stalock is very hard to value in a trade. More or less an older rental backup who has ~1 good year to his name. I could see the Wild keeping him and giving another year in the AHL to Khakonen, but Stalock’s value will likely never be higher.
Would I weaponize the money? Yes. Do I think the Wild will? No. They’ll be a playoff bubble team again next year, so I see them playing the fence leaving enough cap to make a deadline deal. In all, my gut says that Guerin will move pieces to eye the future, but Craig Leopold isn’t going to let him blow it up.

Just a League Wide Reminder the Ottawa Senators have the best prospect pool
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>csick</b></div><div>Awesome analysis. Do u see Brett Pesce in JBD?</div></div>
That’s not a bad comp. I’d say I see a bit of Thomas Hickey. Reliable and smooth, may take a couple years of professional speed to get to the NHL, but his ability to move the puck will determine his level of success.

If the draft is won
Wait.. so you want the Wild to re-sign Koivu and trade away Kaprizov before he ever even plays a game in MN?
Pass.

possibility of this
The Wild could get more for Brodin and I don’t think they’d trade him in the division.

I’m a North Dakota fan, so I’ll give you my 2-cents on a few of these guys.
JBD will have to make some strides. He hasn’t underwhelmed at the college level, but he will have to become more confident in moving the puck to get to the next level.
Tychonick looked kind of lost at times. Couldn’t find a great role at North Dakota and is transferring. Needs to work on his board play. I wouldn’t be mega surprised if he does not make it to the NHL.
Pinto is looking like a steal from the 2019 draft. If he stuck around past the upcoming season (which I doubt he will), he’d be a captain. Works hard, rock solid at the face off dot, and talented. I think his floor is a bottom 6 forward.
I still believe in Wolanin, but don’t know if he’s true NHL material. Skates well and can move the puck, but doesn’t quite have the speed to control the game.

Is this ridiculous
The Wild do need help up the middle, so I have to imagine they'd be a good suitor for Johnson. I know you have to make money work, but I don't think the Wild would retain any salary. I think you'd be better asking for a draft pick, 2-way, or ELC instead of Donato in return. A guy like Nico Sturm or Gerald Mayhew who were bubble bottom 6 players that couldn't crack the Wild's depth this year, but would certainly slot in next year (assuming) with Koivu and Galchenyuk gone.
Sturm + 2021 5th for Johnson?

They'd be pushing their in-process rebuild back another 3+ years. I don't mind big splash trade ideas, but I can't see Buffalo justifying a pretty big step back in their rebuild.

Poor Duclair can never seem to find a home.. lol
Not that the rebuild isn't still underway, but I would be a bit surprised to see Ottawa amass more draft picks. If someone comes calling with 2nd + prospect for either Brown or Duclair, they'd be dumb to not listen, but both players seem like they could be a long term fit within the rebuild.

I think the asking price, and following contract, for RNH is going to be sky high. As a WIld fan, I'd pass. If a potential trade were centered around Brodin instead of Dumba, I'd be more willing to try to make it work.
And no, the Wild are not going to win the draft lottery. Good things don't happen in Minnesota.

Major overhaul
Just from the playoffs, Beau looks like he's taken a major step so I don't think it's enticing enough to pull the trigger on it. Not to mention, after Barzal and, to a lesser extent, Toews get paid the Isles are right up against the cap. I don't see them committing to Connor's contract without finding a way to shed either the Ladd or Boychuk contracts. Possibly a 3rd team steps in.
