A defenders job is to take away the pass, especially when the shot is from that horrible of a spot. He did that and prevented foudy from getting to the net. Unfortunately Andersen let in a soft goal, not that it mattered because the winning goal was scored in the first.

the defenders job is to take way the pass when it's a 2 on 1. it's not here though.
He was 1 on 1 with him. PLD is out the play until after the shot.
You can see this on the 3:17 mark. He's not even to the top of the circle yet and Foudy is committed. He's already driving past the midway point of the circle on the baseline.

He did not square him up. He did not close that off. He just stood there and let him shoot. And while I do agree it was a soft goal, he got no help on the play. You don't worry about guys not even at the circle yet when you got a guy 10 feet from the goal.

It's not even worth arguing over.
