How bout they don't trade away their entire 3rd line and then overlay bottom 6 forwards? Seems a bit more logical.

Wait? So you wouldnt trade 3 guys making 10M total but you all 5-6M 3rd line and barely 3M 4th line an overpayment?..

The only change I suggest is dump the Simmons idea. He's done I think, Engval was very good in the playoffs. Keep him and Gauthier as the last two forwards and save the money.

I think Simmonds brings in something really good therefore I signed him. Sort of like Corey Perry signing in Dallas which helped them get on the right track.

Did he though? Dallas didn't do any better than last season and in the games I've seen, Perry has cost them due to bad penalties. Engval made the 4th line effective with his puck carrying and speed. Simmons doesn't have that. Nor does Spezza or Clifford.

Would rather spend that money on Johan Larsson instead of Simmonds and put Spezza on the wing if he comes back

Not remarking on a Simmonds move here, but Perry has been quite crap for Dallas. The thing that got them right was the defense and goaltending.

Simmonds isn't bad at that price but I would move him up from the checking line. He's a good person to put in the top 3 lines. He brings a front of the net presence the leafs highly lack.

They don't need to move the entire 3rd line. They can just move one of them (likely Kapanen or Johnsson) and be fine. The bottom 6 you have is atrocious
