If y'all are taking Steen too then we could talk. Not looking to move Jake Allen for a negative value. There are 31 teams, someone would give something for him.

no there isnt teams that will take Allen at positive value. Not saying he has negative value but with a flat cap teams arent taking on a 4 million dollar back up. Maybe Detroit but they will likely target Demko, then theres Ottawa who is working with an internal budget and will make the Blues pay to take him on.

Allen is only overpaid by about $1 to $2 million, whereas Steen is overpaid by about $4.75 million.

There are definitely teams. Ones that come to mind: San Jose, Washington, Buffalo, Philly? EDM? Allen was a top 5 goalie this year and while he’s struggled in the past as the bonafide starter, he has plenty of value as a 1B. MTL fans have this idea that we have to trade Allen to them and we have to pay to do so and they’re just going to luck into having a great backup that they can flip at the deadline.

Washington, Edmonton, Philly, San Jose are all tight against the cap, Buffalo can afford him but the biggest thing here is that without ticket sales teams arent going to make much money so they likely will have a lower internal cap set up. Each of those teams would have to justify to an owner paying a goalie 4 million to play 20 - 30 games which will be hard to convince.

Like I have said a bunch of times and Blues fans dont seem to understand, they arent bad players and any other year you could easily deal them for a return, this off season though teams will focus on resinging thier own players for the raises they will demand, then talk to the owners about how much they can actually spend after that. Dont think a lot of those owners will say yes to giving asssets up for an expensive back up goalie or to help out a contending team for free.

He’s a career .913 goalie (.925 in the playoffs) who just led the league in high-danger save% and only has a year left. Armstrong having to pay to move him would be brutal.

It would be so easy for someone like Detroit to acquire him for a 4th and then retain at the deadline for a 2nd.

They won’t lose anything significant for Allen, especially considering there was interest last summer and he just put up a great season. Maybe they downgrade a 4th to a 6th and give up Jake Walman or some other prospect but that’s likely it.

Ya I dont think he will be expensive to move like a second rounder or anything but I just dont see teams making moves to bring expensive players this off season unless its a cap contract swap which the Blues cant do because they need the space.

No way to either of those deals

Smith is 31 and not better than Folin who can't crack our roster

Strome is another Center which we are already trying to move because we have too many

The Carolina pick is going to be between 23-31 bottom 8! Why would we move Domi for a late 1st when we can get a mid first from other teams in need of a 2C?

I’m thinking a three-way trade would be smart where a rebuilder can retain. Think like Allen to Detroit for a 5th and then flipped at 50% retention to Calgary for a 2nd

That'd be interesting for sure, think Detroit only does it though if they land Demko. If they need a goalie they likely try to keep Allen

Does Strome play much RW or is he just listed on here in that position?

He plays Center but I think Capfriendly lists him as a Winger as well cause he has played a little wing in the past not much but a little
