Flyers don't have the cap to retain JVR. They can trade him somewhere without retaining or just wait for Seattle to take him.

Rico has more value than a cap dump and a late 2nd.

Is JVR at 5.5 million the cap dump? Because we should not be calling JVR at $5.5 million a cap dump. Look at the usage this year; he wasn't deployed heavily in the O-zone and still produced decent raw numbers (19g/40pts in 66 games) skating <15mins a night. His goals/60 sandwiches right in between Kyle Connor and Leon Draisaitl. Note: I am not saying id rather have JVR than either of those two or that he is as good as either of those two, but he still scores at a very productive rate.

....Now if you are taking the full $7, he's probably overpaid by 1-1.5 million.

Rico=Adam Henrique...

Sorry, I was way off base!

I agree with you that trade. Expiring contracts/ older players probably don't add much value to the Ducks. The team is likely a hard reset away from being a contender. Henrique would make a good 2c or excellent 3c on a competitive team and is price-locked for a long while. I'd imagine that a few playoff teams wouldn't mind taking that on, but it'll cost a good prospect/young player and a decent pick,. Then add whatever cap dump and appropriate compensation.

Henrique isn't on the table unless your 2020 second or 2021 first is. He's an effective, cost-controlled #2C for four seasons, and the perfect bridge to our up-and-coming centers.

Yeah, that's about where I have him...I feel like we had a decent Rangers one at some point, but I can't remember exactly what it was. Strome and a RD prospect maybe?

Henrique isn't worth a 1st in any year.

The same reasons you would want them to take him. He will be 32. He has already shown significant regression. His cap hit is 7 per. There will be more appealing options for Seattle to choose from off of Philly's roster. No point in them starting their franchise with an anchor contract for 3 years

Except JVR is not an anchor is still pretty solid. The issue with keeping him is the Flyers literally have 4 top 6 left wingers. Giroux, Farabee, Lindblom, and JVR. They can trade him if Seattle doesn't take him.

Gonna need to retain salary or add a sweetener. Not going to be many teams in the market for a 45 point winger that can't skate in a flat cap era at 7 million.

No, he isn't a cap dump. I made an ACGM trading him to NJD for a 2nd and 3rd and most Devils fans liked the idea.

Unfortunately the trade doesn't need to be made with fans. It isn't their money he will paid with. Most Devils ACGM teams also have them spending close to the cap even though it has been widely speculated that they will be operating on an internal cap well below the upper limit.
