I wouldn't want that contract. I'd rather have Nylander. At least you could still manage a roster with that

u right but they rip on him so much I wonder if he's expendable, also Pulock too much for Nylander

The trade would have to change for sure. Don't know what would go to TOR but Nylander is the only forward recently signed by TOR that has a decent contract. That Marner contract is brutal. If he isn't McDavid I'll pass on an 11M contract. At least for the next couple years for the isles until those final Snow signings run out

What would it take from the Jets for Pulock? Roster player with salary or ELC’s and picks?

I would not trade Pulock for Marner 1 for 1 as an Islander fan. The Islanders are building a great future top 4 of Pelech - Pulock and Toews - Dobson. It works for the team. Marner would not fit with what Lou/Trots are building

I think hes a solid two way guy, he def fits what they need and what they do. Just that contract is so garbage

I'm not going to lie, I was shocked Marner, a hometown boy being paid $10M +, came out and said he "wasn't engaged" in game 1 of the series vs the Jackets. If I were GM that would anger me.
Sometimes I honestly think pro hockey players (and all sports sure) don't want to be a "professional athlete". They want the professional paycheque and don't actually live for the competition like they would have us believe.
Yea if I were a leaf fan I would want Marner gone too. Gone before Nylander went anywhere.

Bringing in Marner will blow any hope of getting the Islanders Salary structure stable for years. It will end up costing them assets in the long run. 6.5Million for Pulock or 11Million for Marner? I chose the #1RHD whom we can not replace untill/unless Dobson is ready every time. No, I dont see Marner as a 2 way player. No, I dont see Marner becoming a 2 way player. Its not a deal the Islanders can afford. Best option right now is to trade Leddy, see if Boychuk can keep healthy or LTIR him. Same with Ladd. The Islander potentially have the wingers in the system that could help them in Wahlstrom and Holmstrom. They are going to have to hope they pan out.

Agreed that I'd much rather have Nylander than Marner, but I can't think of a realistic deal that would be worth it for both teams.

Same. Perhaps Pulock too little for Marner, but too much for Nylander. Not sure either team has the draft capital readily available to get to a fair point either

Don’t think they’d do a 1 for 1 for ehlers, but it’s possible. I think they need 30 goals/70 points coming the other way

Doubt you could fit the Marner cap hit as it is. Are you going to be able to keep the core together with the RFAs to sign and flat cap?

It hurts but reasonable. That’s a fair trade 👍
