The thing about getting players on cheap contracts is that every cap strapped team (which is most of them) isn't going to want to trade their cheap contracts, and they especially aren't going to want to pay picks to take a more expensive player when that expensive player just had a down year.

That Kyrou trade is abysmal

I think Labanc is a better player but Kyrou is on a better contract making him more value. I thought that too. What if we took Bozak?

I disagree

they both averaged about a point per game in the AHL and Kyrou was only a year older when he did it. He's also on a great contract for next season and is 2 years younger.

Probably fair (or fair-er) value wise but honestly I can't see the Blues trading Kyrou. He was untouchable when Buffalo wanted him for O'Reilly and not much as changed in his trajectory since then. It's also going to be tough for us to take any cap back if we're trying to re-sign Pietrangelo, and re-signing Labanc will likely cost 2.5-4 million I would think right? If we're out on Pietrangelo then perhaps since we could use some more scoring, but that scoring could also come from Kyrou.

Labanc put up 56 points in the NHL at 23 years old before heading into the disaster that was this year.
Kyrou put up 9 points in 28 games at 22 (or 21).

Labanc has proven himself to be a high scoring player, Kyrou has hardly played, and isn't super young. he has 1 year left on his contract.
He's arguably a worse prospect that Chmelevski, if a trade was offered 1 for 1 Chmelevski for Labanc + 2 3rds, someone would get shot.

I mean everyone had a down season on San Jose, but him especially. He's also bad at everything else that isn't spelled "offense"

Sharks this season were practically the equivalent of Avs in 16-17, every single thing went wrong.

I did mean it was bad for the Blues but to be fair I also misread the trade and thought the Blues were adding the picks so maybe ignore me

Yeah sounds about right for Labanc's next contract

I mean say he signs for 3.5 million and we take Bozak we're freeing about 2.2 in cap space and we gave you a middle 6 right wing for a middle 6 right wing and took another 3rd line C/RW. You should be able to find a decent 3c for 2.2.

My head agrees with you on Pietrangelo but my heart will hope until he's got his name on a contract somewhere else. It's not just losing him, it's also that Faulk is just not good
