    Pretty sure the most that’s ever been traded for a players UFA rights was a 3rd round pick or something like that. If he’s not signing in St. Louis, a 3rd rounder is probably the max it would take.

    I think Hayes got like a 4th last year for his rights so that trade is kinda nuts. Fine if he's guaranteed to sign or something but otherwise not

    lol yes, Leafs only make the trade assuming it's a sign and trade type thing for Pietrangelo ...since flat cap for next two seasons, few FA's will get true value this and next offseason, we'll call it a trial run in TO lol + he gets a $2m bump during that time

    So you’re willing to give that up for two years of Petro when you could just wait and sign him for nothing?

    Also, sign and trades are like a once in a decade thing.
