Checks all the boxes.

Cap compliant with a full 23 man roster.
Gives a RD to play with Reilly
Doesn't gut the center position or forward depth.
Trade is realistic because it is not lopsided and meets a need for Florida while not costing them a lot of real money.

Great job.

July 2nd passed by already awesome face

Seriously though, I think it's a decent trade. Just wondering how bad would FLA defensive depth look like without Ekblad... Yandle-Weegar, Matheson-Strålman, Stillman-Brown just might be the weakest D-core of the league...

Imagine going from the mecha of hockey in Toronto where it's a complete gongshow with all fans/media and hardly being able to go out in public to Florida where the building is empty every night and having no fans. Would be quite the culture shock. Taxes and weather would be a nice switch tho.

While there are some risks to this trade i believe it could help both sides.

I like it, value wise it’s fair. Florida might be a little hesitant to trade their top d man, but they might just wanna shake things up in hopes things get better.

maybe if florida adds a pick and toronto sends Dermott or Liligren they would be more willing as then they can build a more stable dcore once seattle takes someone

I could see them doing that to add someone like Liljegren who is young and almost nhl ready.

I could see something like that or maybe Tippett depending on what Toronto would want back.

yeah either Tippet or Borgstrom would be fine but i see the panthers most likely giving us Borgstrom as panthers are banking on tippet becoming a top 6 winger under huberdeau

So im good with either

Marner + Liligren for Tippet + Ekblad
or
Marner + Liligren for Borgstrom + Ekblad

Honestly, this is the best 1 for 1 deal you're getting for Marner, all things considered

Dubas might as well resign before he gets fired....so answer me how his sale pitch goes to the MLSE boardroom...I would like to spend 14.3 million to Marner and than trade him. Although Ekbald has a 4 million signing bonus, still that's 10 million spent for no good reason. That's a true sign of accepting defeat, or kiss of death on Dubas' GM career. Nylander, Lilypad and an exchange of draft picks for Ekbald is better.

You forget he already paid both Zaitsev and Marleau signing bonus before trading them...Dubas is burning cash like Ledger's Joker in Dark Knight.

Do you know how much Bell is worth?
You think they care.
They Paid Kawaii to be 1 and done

In fact

The bonus make it BETTER for florida
So the leafs could ask for pics too

This takes the least away from the forwards
And actually adds SIZE to the defence
A top 4 that could actually win

Plus Sandin get 2 full years on the third pair

I have an economics degree
The % of cap for a winger not named Ovechkin or Panarin is just not worth it

Plus AE is undervalued

I think if they actually wanna win they would trade Derozen again.

The trade value is alright, the reasons you give may be true but...it's still not realistic or likely to happen. That offer wouldn't even be in Dubas' mindset.

The 4 never gets traded as long as Dubas is around (one more season).

Alright, I take that logic.
I'll ask then, if the new GM who replaces Talon
Caller Dubas and offered from their end

If you think Ekblad wins you a cup, what would you give? And I am asking because I think Flordia would be interested in our players.

Dubas is really odd, to get inside his head is hard, he values speed, skill and offense more so than having a Dcore or dependable 2 way forwards to help. So I doubt Dubas listens for Ekbald trade offers unless it's for his scraps.

Fair.
I just wonder if he saw how Seth Jones alone beat us.
Like if we could just have that guy for 24 minutes I think it would change the fortunes against a team like Boston or the NYI.

The guy traded Kadri and a 3rd Rd pick for one season of T. Barrie.

Kerfoots
Short handed and 5v5 stats for getting 14 minutes a game

Points per minute without pp time he was better than Kadri
He is signed for 1 extra year at 1 million less
Naz was **** last year.on 2nd PP and 3rd line minutes

Kerfoot is better than you think.

I like the deal for the Leafs; but the panthers Dcore looks really bad after it. Even if you add Dermott or Liligren they aren’t a top4 dman right now. Plus they take on cap. If Dubas can do this, take it and run.

I think even if Leafs fans are upset.
They will see you got a 1 for a 4
And Flordia will overvalue the high skill plays.
He will make a tandem with Barkov for years
Hoenstly if Dubas did Marner and Dermott
I think because they still have 4 decent
You could get a forward prospect, then if a player like Gudas was open for a short UFA deal

He could be on a third Pair
Or is Timmy shows he can play
The beauty of Marincin is worst case scenario he is in

I think with all of the shakeups in Flordia and the fact that they would be able to save some money and get younger.

Even in division all teams get better.
Especially since the Rangers are playoff team next year.

Both the Panthers and the Leafs have a reason to deal strength for a weakness.

Flordia will be able to use the extra cash for Hoffman or Dadanov.

Also, Ekblad would be ultra motivated
Reilly-Ekblad could be Canadas top paid for 10 years.

Too many boxes checked if you ask me.
