Fits in with Radulov; big European right wingers that have a lot of skill and take a lot of lazy penalties. Sticking Out Tongue

Montreal probably accepts, although Armia is an important part of the team. We’d be more apt to do it if we’re out at the deadline.

If we aren’t in the playoffs we would do this imo.

I think Montreal should accept this for the simple reason that Armia is likely not getting protected for the expansion draft, so we'd be getting 2 picks and a depth player likely not getting drafted OR we lose him for nothing.

Pretty sure this deal's happening way before the deadline as it's a cap dump deal so they wouldn't give a 1st to get only a couple months off the books (Which should be about 500k in real money savings?). I'd see us do it as anyways at the end of the season you either protect Armia or Lehkonen from Seattle, this deal solves the issue and gives us a first. I'd try to give them Lehkonen over Armia mainly for his puck skills but Lehky's giving all he got every shift so whatever I guess.
It also open up a spotin the middle six for Caufield if he comes up next year and nothing says Armia isn't coming back either.

I wouldn’t trade Lehkonen, but I wouldn’t mind trading Armia for this return whataoever.

Also, Armia is a IFA next summer, so we don’t need to protect him anyway since he won’t be picked by Seattle.

If were shipping off Armia without doing any other trade we'll be back to square one looking for a big bodied winger with skills. I do think he'd try to go get some help elsewhere if that trade happens doe.

The thing about trading Armia is that it’s not a problem beyond this upcoming season, since we might not have room for him anyways. The problem is that we do need him this year though. I guess if we sign a winger to a 1 year deal in free agency then it could work. And while I absolutely love Cogliano, and I absolutely want him in the lineup, he won’t be able to fill Armia’s hole.

Edit: And looking at UFA wingers, the tallest one that’s an NHLer, is Ilya Kovalchuk, who we were going to sign anyways. Also Corey Perry 🤢 and Jimmy Vesey.
