Just looking for some opinions on these trades

Have a couple swaps here that I was just hoping to get some feedback on. Any potential for deals here? Doesn't have to be exactly this, just didn't want to over-complicate the trades.

Hard pass from the Cats...maybe for just Weegar they might consider it, but not with Tippett

Well we're trading a young solid backup to Shesty who is cheap and can be the guy behind shesty for awhile and a guy we traded a top defensive prospect for and have a lot of hope to become a big piece. Kerfoot spurned us when he decided to sign with COL and I'm not a fan of what he brings, his contract, and the role these guys play. We need a 2C and a top 4 LHD which neither of these guys are.

While I think FLA fans overrate Tippett (and I'm learning TML fans Liljegren), he's one of their best prospects. I'd expect Toronto would have to add a 2nd at the least.

Regarding the other trade, I am a little unsure. Dermott doesn't have too much value. Kerfoot...I think he is a decent player, but many people seem to see him as a cap dump with inflated counting stats. In both cases, I don't think this trade is fair to NYR. Gauthier is more comparable to Dermott, but Georgiev is a legitimate prospect with an NHL future, even if only as a backup.

The FLA value is close, but they likely still won't bite. The Rangers balk at that. They'd not want to eat cap space and give up Gauthier.

Not familiar with the history between Kerfoot and the Rangers.

Just drop both prospects. Liljegren is almost untouchable

Thoughts on the Ranger's trade? I thought it was pretty reasonable, but the response to it so far hasn't been great.

Drop Gauthier and add your 2nd to the Rangers trade and it gets considered.

Georgiev is very highly coveted by the organization.

Nevertheless, that still seems like an overpay from the Leafs.

Just curious, what would you want for Georgiev, Leafs-wise?

I feel like Rangers should keep him unless prys him away with a good enough offer. I'm not sure if TOR has anything of interest with Kapanen already reported offered and declined. No fan of Kerfoot. I think Sandin would be ideal but TOR wouldn't do that so I don't know how a deal works. Maybe a first round pick but after this Marleau Fiasco, Dubas won't move them for a bit.

Kapanen was never actually offered, it was just Dreger (who is a hack, but that's besides the point) saying that he's not sure Kapanen would get it done. Just speculation. Sandin and 1st (though I do think 1sts are overvalued) would be solid no's, goalies just don't carry the type of value for a prospect like Sandin and you already touched on the 1st round pick situation. How bout something like Dermott and 2021 2nd?

I don't think Dermott is a guy I'd go for tbh. We have Libor Hajek who is loved by the organization so Dermott has no room. Would you do 2020-2021 2nds?

Don't think that would be overly wise for them to do. Barring any other moves, that would cause them to have no picks in the first three rounds this year, and only one next year. Perhaps if they were to acquire additional picks in other trades, then yeah, but as of now it doesn't seem a smart move for them.

I'm just working on an AGM, so if I find a way to sneak in an extra pick or two, I'd consider that. Would a 2020 3rd + 2021 2nd be okay? If not: 2020 3rd + 2021 2nd + Dermott (even if you just want to flip him for assets) for Georgiev + Andersson?

Or perhaps an outside the box idea: Leafs 2021 1st for Georgiev + 2021 2nd?

That'll get it done. Might need some conditions in there to not completely burn the Leafs like the Marleau deal.

Yeah, I meant to mention playoff protected.

Just as you replied I was editing my last comment to include another option. Any consideration to 2020 3rd + 2021 2nd + Dermott (even if you just want to flip him for picks or something) for Georgiev + Andersson?

What could they get for Dermott? Think Andersson will be flipped for another disgruntled prospect.

Depending on when they trade him (i.e the rangers could hold onto him and play him until the deadline), I think you're looking at a 2nd-3rd for him (probably more likely a 3rd, but I've definitely seen worse trades than Dermott for a 2nd).

Incidentally, what do you think Jesper Fast signs for? Do you think he stays in New York? Just been seeing a lot of Rangers AGM's where he doesn't get re-signed.

Gotta say I love the idea of getting the 1st but not bad either! For fast I personally am not a fan of bringing up him back. We have too many wingers and need the cap flexibility. I think he signs for $2.75M for 4-years. Leafs should trade one of their RW's and add him. Great PKer and will do all the little things.

Yeah I was looking into him, thinking he could maybe be a sneaky little addition if the Leafs use their current wingers to address the D and have a bit of cap space left over.

Thanks so much for all your feedback, it was very helpful!
