The convo to move from 2 to 1 starts with Turcotte and probably Kaliyev. And i dont think either side would say yes to that so yea, its not happening. Especially in a silly Cap dump situation.

Of all the 1OA trades on here, I actually don't hate this one haha. I don't think I'd do it, but it's definitely intriguing. I've always liked Cale Klague, since he was in junior.

What most people on here don't realize is that NYR actually can't afford Lafreniere...unless they dump about 10M in cap space...with this, their team actually sucks...

on most posts, NYR have about 500K in cap space but 10M in bonuses, not including Laf's...This is already over the cap limit...Its not really about affording Laf but the fact that they have to get rid of about 7-10M in cap

That’s a crazy weird offer.

If I’m NYR I probably ask for one really solid piece instead of a F prospect with a 3C ceiling, and a D man who’s trending towards a 4-5th type of guy.

How easy will it be to get rid of him? Will there be a major cap hit if he retires like Loungo?

current rumor is that he will be retiring to go back home and play with his brother at Frolunda.
he signed his contract under the 2013 CBA, basically if he retires his entire cap hit comes off the books with no penalty.
it isn't a +35 contract and it wasn't frontloaded.

Lol Rangers are giving up the best asset in the deal and the implications of trading the number 1 pick in a risk averse league all mean that the only way to actually do it is an astounding overpay. My point was LA would have to make a crazy overpay to make the deal and they wont, and NYR might not even accept the overpay anyway.

LA could use both LW and a young possibly franchise C to take the reigns from Kopitar. C is probably way more important for NYR but theyre going to be pressured into Laf. Theyre also going to have like no money when Lafs elc is up, and that could cost them Z. Then they really wont have a C. It makes sense if we think logically, maybe work out a couple of different proposals

From 1 to 2. Its not going to cost a future top 6 forward or possibly 2. Youre massively overvaluing Laf and undervaluing Stutzle and Byfield at the same time. Its logical for NY to do something like this, especially after signing Panarin

What are you talking about? Laf costs 925k for 3 years.... They also lose Staal, Smith, Hank, and Shatty's money after next season. That is 25m in cap space.

From what has been discussed by multiple hockey minds. You would be looking at 1 of Vilardi/Turcotte, kaliyev, and the 2nd overall pick. But that isn't even enough. Laf is a generational talent and NY would not even consider trading that pick.

Laf's bonuses are going to be about 3M...NYR bonuses are at like 12m...you need to account for 75% of that in your cap space.

Please show me the "hockey minds" that said 2 overall + Vilardi/Turcotte and Kaliyev for Laf
