Sens decline easily. They don't have any interest in moving Brown, and if they do it's not going to be for a goaltender, and if it IS for a goaltender it will be for someone far more established than Georgiev and definitely not when they're paying a 2nd too. Brown's one of their top prospects, not just another guy caught in their depth. Nowhere close to a trade they'd be interested in. The Sens will likely have Brown as their 1C or 2C next year, and they're not concerned over goaltending. Easy no.

Those contracts for Strome and DeAngelo are too high. Other than that, pretty good.

Anderson will not be brought back at the age of 39. Georgiev is by far the smartest option for a young team that is still in the midst of a rebuild. Georgiev is a fringe starter who has the potential to be a runaway starting goalie for them as Högberg struggled for them and is absolutely not ready to start.

In regards to Brown, he isn't even ready for the NHL yet. He still needs one more good season in the AHL as he showed great progress this season with 28-points in 25-games. Alex Formenton, Josh Norris & Drake Batherson are all ahead of him in the depth chart. You could even make the case Vitaly Abramov is ahead of him right now as well. 25 games is too small a sample size to have the mindset that he's ready to play 15 minutes a night in the NHL. Ottawa's biggest question mark heading into 2020-21 is in fact goaltending.

Strongly disagree. If you look at players with similar point totals and similar caliber, this is the going rate. If you look at Evolving Hockey or even Dobber, the contracts I have aligned here are based on similar projections. Many actually including Dreger believe Strome is asking for around $6.5M. I encourage you to stick around in this thread for when they sign similar contracts if not higher than what I personally project.

Not true at all. Ottawa desperately need goaltending and Georgiev is a much cheaper option than someone like Holtby or Markstrom.

OTT does not desperately need goaltending. We have goalies in the pipeline, and no need to rush the rebuild.

We dont need a goalie enough to trade a 2nd and our former 11OA pick.

OTT could take Georgiev as compensation for taking Smith (like most ACGMs propose), but youre nowhere near getting LBrown for him

They already expressed interest in the possibility of moving him this past trade deadline, everyone knows this. He's their 4th best prospect as far as I'm concerned and they've expressed interest in Gerogiev already. He's either going to Ottawa, San Jose or Detroit. Ottawa makes the most sense.

Ah this makes much more sense. It's clear now you don't watch the Sens very much. That gives better context to the trade. I'm a Sens fan, so I can help out with some background!

Sens goaltending next year is Anders Nilsson and Marcus Hogberg, easy. Nilsson was great when healthy, but did admittedly struggle with injuries. Hogberg was fantastic for the Sens, actually, but had to play behind an abysmal defense and so his numbers don't entirely reflect it. Anybody who watched even a single game could attest to that. He's ready to be backup and is expected to push for a 1B position as the season moves on. All Sens fans are fully comfortable with that tandem, as is the organization. Beyond that, they have Filip Gustavsson and Joey Daccord, who both lead one of the top teams in the AHL. Their save percentages weren't spectacular but they put up great wins and the Sens will need to know what they have in them very soon as they're both eligible for Seattle. They'll be tried out as backups throughout the year. Georgiev is not a need.

In regards to Brown, he is ready for the NHL. He needs no more AHL time as he showed he was ready at the NHL level with 8 in 23 on the 4th line with 12 minutes a game. Drake Batherson is the only player ahead of him in the depth chart, and he's a winger, not a center. That's further backed up by the fact that Formenton played 0 NHL games, Norris played 3, Abramov played 2, Batherson played 23, and Brown played 23. The organization agrees which is why he was given the chance ahead of everybody else. He's widely considered as the one who had the best NHL showing of the bunch as he had the most well rounded performance this year. He's got nothing left to prove at the AHL level and is expected to make the NHL team next year. He is projected to play within the top 9 and only has to beat out Chris Tierney or Colin White for a top 6 spot. He's not at all on the trading block for a backup goaltender with a chance to solve a need the Sens don't need to fill. But it's easy to get him mixed up with all the prospects the Sens have.

They've never expressed interest in Georgiev. No need to spread false rumours to peddle a bad trade. Brown is the Sens 2nd best forward prospect, 3rd at worst if you're particularly obsessed with Norris, and an important piece. He's not getting traded.

Hope that helps!

Why do we desperately need goaltending? We’re going to be bad this year and have 5 decent goalies (Hogberg, Daccord, Gustavsson, Mandolese, Sogaard) at different stages of the development process. Since we have 8 picks in the top 64 I’d be surprised if one of them wasn’t used on a goalie, like Daws, Clang, or Blomqvist (I’m partial to Blomqvist personally, good technical game, Finnish and we all know Finns are the best goalies, but perhaps more importantly he can develop in Europe so we don’t overcrowd our AHL/ECHL crease) so add another decent prospect to the mix. This year is a free development year for them and Brown, likely a future top 6 centre. We’ll start with Nilsson+Hogberg and see if Daccord makes Nilsson expendable at the deadline. It makes more sense for us to keep Brown and Norris to challenge each other to see who the future 2C is than to trade him for a goalie when we have several options in the pipeline and don’t intend to be good yet.

Hogberg definitely did not struggle this season in the NHL. He had literally one bad game under unfortunate circumstances, and was pretty much their best goalie beyond that. Sens will have no worries going into the season with Nilsson and Hogberg as the tandem.

Also Logan Brown is as NHL ready as he's going to get. All the tools are there, he just needs to figure it all out. He's not going to benefit from more AHL time, and probably wouldn't report if he was sent down. He's probably on the Sens this season, though there's a chance he could be dealt for a Dman if Ottawa thinks Norris is going to push for that same spot.

they should trade tierny and asimov before they trade Brown, if both brown and Norris play to their potential and OTT gets Byfield, easy to make one or both wingers

I think best case scenario in a couple of years would be Byfield-Brown-Norris down the middle, and White moving to RW, but I just have this feeling that Norris has passed Brown on the Depth Chart, and that Logan Brown could be on the move.

I don't think Tierney or Anisimov factor in at all long term.
