You could be correct, but he also offensively had a down year with only 10 assists.

Payroll pertaining to management not the players. The Sabres need to become better or risk their franchise player demanding a trade. In order to get better, your going to have to lure good players in free agency with MONEY or get better through the draft.

I think this would be a terrible trade for Montréal. Giving up Caufield alone would be absolutely crazy. If im Detroit, i absolutely take this offer but it's just very unrealistic.
Contract wise though you are spot on.

If it's a winger like Holtz or Raymond then I think he is safe for the time being. The key is if 1 or 2 Dmen go from 4- 7.</div></div>
I couldn't agree more. Mittelstadts future is something to pay close attention to, especially this off-season.

Realistic 2020-21 Sabres
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>dzmets</b></div><div>No chance the Sabres make a big splash for goalie. They will no doubt be on an internal cap this year and not signing any big ticket UFA's especially a washed up goalie. They are happy with Ullmarks progression, they have arguably the best collection of goalie prospects in the league and they just hired an AHL coach that specializes in developing young goalies</div></div>
I disagree. Management is going to cater to whatever Eichel wants. He has expressed his desire to win and win now. if they don't make any meaningful acquisitions or progress in the right direction, he's not going to want to stick around any longer. The last thing the Sabres need/want is their franchise center wanting to leave.

I gotchu. With the eight overall selection in the 2020 NHL Entry Draft, the Buffalo Sabres are proud to select from Djurgårdens IF of the SHL, Alexander Holtz.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Sabres923</b></div><div>Forward core looks good. But Holtby and Hutton were horrible last year. Both under .900 for save percentage. They will keep Ullmark, and either keep Hutton or go after a guy like Raanta.</div></div>
I see where you are coming from. In my opinion, I think they try to make a push for Holtby, Markstrom or even Greiss. I think Holtby would be the more logical choice in my opinion, but is also the most expensive.
In regards to the forward depth, I think Fast is someone they are absolutely targeting. The PK was terrible this past season and Fast is a great penalty killer as well as someone who can easily slide up and down the lineup shall he remain healthy. A 3-year, $2.5-$3 AAV is where I see him landing. Mittelstadt will start in the AHL for more seasoning and Thomas Nosek is another guy who plays hard and the Sabres need his intensity and to be a hard team to play against.
Thanks for posting!

We dont need a goalie enough to trade a 2nd and our former 11OA pick.
OTT could take Georgiev as compensation for taking Smith (like most ACGMs propose), but youre nowhere near getting LBrown for him</div></div>
They already expressed interest in the possibility of moving him this past trade deadline, everyone knows this. He's their 4th best prospect as far as I'm concerned and they've expressed interest in Gerogiev already. He's either going to Ottawa, San Jose or Detroit. Ottawa makes the most sense.

Not true at all. Ottawa desperately need goaltending and Georgiev is a much cheaper option than someone like Holtby or Markstrom.

Strongly disagree. If you look at players with similar point totals and similar caliber, this is the going rate. If you look at Evolving Hockey or even Dobber, the contracts I have aligned here are based on similar projections. Many actually including Dreger believe Strome is asking for around $6.5M. I encourage you to stick around in this thread for when they sign similar contracts if not higher than what I personally project.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Claebom</b></div><div>Sens decline easily. They don't have any interest in moving Brown, and if they do it's not going to be for a goaltender, and if it IS for a goaltender it will be for someone far more established than Georgiev and definitely not when they're paying a 2nd too. Brown's one of their top prospects, not just another guy caught in their depth. Nowhere close to a trade they'd be interested in. The Sens will likely have Brown as their 1C or 2C next year, and they're not concerned over goaltending. Easy no.</div></div>
Anderson will not be brought back at the age of 39. Georgiev is by far the smartest option for a young team that is still in the midst of a rebuild. Georgiev is a fringe starter who has the potential to be a runaway starting goalie for them as Högberg struggled for them and is absolutely not ready to start.
In regards to Brown, he isn't even ready for the NHL yet. He still needs one more good season in the AHL as he showed great progress this season with 28-points in 25-games. Alex Formenton, Josh Norris & Drake Batherson are all ahead of him in the depth chart. You could even make the case Vitaly Abramov is ahead of him right now as well. 25 games is too small a sample size to have the mindset that he's ready to play 15 minutes a night in the NHL. Ottawa's biggest question mark heading into 2020-21 is in fact goaltending.

I like how this mock draft is different, however, I don't see Sanderson going that early as well as Lundell. Byfield will absolutely not fall lower than 4 in my opinion.

Here's an idea, everyone needs to just relax lol. This is all hypothetical to address their cap issues as well as desire for a top-4 defenseman. There are only a handful of realistic options to grab a top-4 and they all include trading a winger to have the necessary space to do so. To me, it's either Manson or someone like Damon Severson.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>EnvironmentalTwister</b></div><div>too much for debrusk tbh</div></div>
I personally disagree. If you look around the league, 20+ goal scorers are all in the same relative salary pool. Debrusk had 27 goals last year and was on pace for another 20 goal season again. I think he will roughly get what I priced out and I think Boston would be smart to offer only a bridge deal since he struggles with consistency easy on here in his career, and this allows him a chance to show he potentially could be worth even more. It's more risky on his part.

You could be correct in regards to Chara walking. Personally, I believe with no fans in the crowd that he might want a sort of proper sendoff and hasn't played that bad in all honesty. 1x$2,000,000 is the same contract he has now and a very reasonable contract for both parties.
Krug has expressed desire to stay in Boston and I think he has every intent on doing so. It's going to come down to if they sign Debrusk to a bridge contract or a long-term deal that will either give cap flexibility to bring Krug back or not. I think Debrusk receives a two-year deal (bridge contract) and Krug returns.
