Well, as a Leafs fan, with most ACGMs valuing Johnsson at a 3rd, I dare say it's an overpay. Jensen is a underrated D imo. Not flashing, but smart and economical on the ice. I would almost argue it's a straight up deal, and if there is a 2nd involved, I say the Leafs are moving a 4th-5th back. Moving up in the draft would work.

I'd do it even as a 3rd. As much as I don't want to sell Johnsson at a low point in value, I agree with you that this deal could be beneficial to both teams.

I personally feel the Leafs pass. Jensen is a third pair right shot defender at best. I would much rather let Liljegren play third pair minutes and see where he stands. Then move Johnsson elsewhere. Don’t think the value is all that bad, just don’t think Jensen fills a hole for the Leafs.

he had a rough start to washington but i would argue he would be your best RHD easily. he (imo) is an upgrade over Holl. he finished the year pretty strong

I'd rather keep Jensen as 3RD than trade for Miller, I don't really get the interest in him. Just trading a 2nd for Johnsson and then shipping off Kempny for a pick makes more sense to me.

I agree about getting more mobile on defense, but I don’t think Miller’s the way to go. He couldn’t crack the Sabres 30th ranked PK, so the Caps couldn’t count on him to take the 2 and a half minutes a night of PK time they were giving to Jensen. He can play on the PP, but with Carlson and Orlov ahead of him he wouldn’t get any ice time there for the Caps. So you’re left with a guy playing nothing but 3rd pairing even strength minutes, and making nearly 3.9M a year on a contract that’ll still be on the books when we hit our cap crunch with Ovie and Vrana needing new deals. I just don’t see any upside here.

I feel like Holl is a better skater with a little bit more offensive upside and costs a little less. In a perfect situation either are top 4 D men. Leafs focus needs to be on legit top 4 not stop gap top 4.

i respectfully disagree. leafs need to find quality Dmen that can eat a lot of minutes for a low price. Jensen is exactly that. issue with getting a "legit" top pairing guy is you would need to give up assets you need/ dont want to part with. plus you need to resign MR and thatll be quite the pay day for him considering what you guys like to pay your superstars
