Description

Just trying something new. Not really sure what the value of Subban is after a poor season. I could be completely off on this but I don’t see a scenario where Nylander is traded for Subban. Wouldn’t make any sense. Also I’m curious to see if Barabanov can enter as a top 6 player. It’s not like you need a star to already play with 2 superstars in Matthews and Marner. Would give the leafs a deeper third line with Hyman and Mikyehev and all three on that line can kill penalties. Adding Khaira and Korkshov along with Engvall would be a massive 4th line (I think they’re all over 6”3)

I dunno just having some fun with various players curious to hear opinions on the value of Subban and whether it’s realistic to have Devils retain 50% to move him. I think Leafs have room to add here too if they wanted to (picks or additional prospects)

I do think there is value in the cap space. To add to the defence you will need to either trade players for picks or cheap players. Khaira +2 million cap space for Johnsson isn’t terrible value considering the flat cap. But I agree straight across Johnsson is the far better player

That’s part of the deal. They Devils shed cap. For a team that is nowhere near competing I would assume the owners aren’t interested in spending to the cap. Net net they save $1 million in cap hit and more when you consider the bonuses already paid to Kapanen. So from the devils perspective you have less cash outflow over 3 years, get rid of a $9 million 2nd pairing defencemen and add younger players to build up the team. That was my thinking, not suggesting it makes sense though! Could be wrong

Kappy & Liljegren can be used to get a better fit than Subban.
