It's not about Giroux retiring. He's pretty far from that. He has 2 years left on his contract and if Buffalo can't be in a contending position by then, he'll walk.

He has a no movement clause, do you really believe he would waive that to go to Buffalo? That’s the biggest obstacle to this trade, other than the Sabres not wanting to spend the money. He would be a great number 2 Center and mentor for Cozens. Honestly I thought he was already 34, so he has maybe three good years left.

I can't see the Sabres taking on that kind of contract especially with Reinhart and Dahlin coming up. I think Skinner would have to be moved or Philly would have to hold around 3M and doubt that would happen.
