Hehe no I'm not. He is good but for that kind of return you would get a dman who puts up more points as well. He has broke 20 points once. He is right handed that is what he has going for him, but he is not as good as Slavin or even Hamilton. He had a really good year 2 years ago and that skews people's opinion of him. Carolina would get a proven starter that they lack, willie would he crazy with Aho as his center and a second? I know that is it "cool" to crap on anything Leaf but that is absurd.

But here is a question for you...You say there are "many" Leaf fans posting willie for Pesce and you say "the majority of this forum agrees"...how does that make any sense since this deal is nowhere near the same? it seems to me like you are comparing a one for one deal with a 3 for 1 deal.

And you say he is a much better player than Willie...not sure how you compare 2 totally different positions...but ok.

You also realize he has had 2 major shoulder injuries to the same should right?

Don't get me wrong, I would love him on my team, but for a guy that doesn't put up points and has only played one full season because of injury (I think ), that is way too much.

Any way, I'm going to slip out of this discussion because I'm providing a rationale as to why I think this and you are saying...well something to the effect of:

1. He's better
2. Leafs will continue to lose
3. People agree with me
4. Other people have said this etc etc

Oh. Well, Freddy doesn’t have much value. Lets just go with nylander for pesce straight up. That trade is proposed by leaf fans all the time. But don’t do that thing that leaf nation is so well known for where you pick apart the players you want, or the players you want to sign to try to make their value sound low, and then the second they’re a leaf, they’re a hall of fame. This was on full display with Matthews and marner, and i have no interest in going through it now with pesce.

Just stop speaking please. Pesce is not more than a top 10 goalie in the league. He's also not more than Nylander. Both players are more than him solo. Freddy would never get moved anyway, why are you making me say these obvious things?

You’re right taht Freddy probably won’t get moved. He’ll play out his contract and the leafs will move on. That’s because he doesn’t really have much trade value. What’s the market for a 31 year old solid, “okay,” goaltender with one year left on his deal?

Would you rather have Nylander and one year of Anderson for 12 million, or Pesce and Lehner for 10? Easy answer.

When did Lehner get in this? Do you know Tor could sign him? If this is a hope, can you take a risk knowing that if Jack Campbell is your opening day starter you get fired? Are there no other options? Why can't Carolina just sign Lehner?

The risk I wouldn’t be willing to take if i was managing the leafs is going into next season built the same way. This team can’t win, and its sure as heck not going to get Pesce for a goalie rental.

I agree the trade makes no sense for either team. But it's way WAY more logical than Pesce for Freedy and Nylander. Also just because I disagree with a single idea doesn't mean I think the team goes into next season the same it came out of this one.
