Kapanen is not a top 6 winger. Domi isn't a RW. This doesn't fix the team's need. Also DeMelo will cost more than that.

Not much in return for Domi. A 3rd line winger in Simon that is inferior to Lehkonen and a bottom 6 forward in Bjugstad, that has decreasing numbers. the 2nd round pick helps but still not even close. Montreal says no.

see alot of people are mistaken about that. Kapenan is a top 6 winger only reason he cant be one on the leafs is because of Nylander and Marner. If one of those guys was moved Kapenan could easily fill a top 6 role and do well at it.

No, Kapanen has plenty of speed but that's about it. He's very frustrating to watch because he will skate into the zone and stop and make the wrong play instead of driving to the net. Low hockey IQ. But yes, he can kill penalties and play on your third line.

His underlying numbers do not support him being a top 6 winger.

see this is where u are missinformed.

Kapenan does that because he creates a play where everyone focuses on him allowing the center to drive the net for a goal. It worked very well under Kadri which was why Kapenan and him did so well. Under kerfoot this has been a problem but Kapenan has adapted his playstyle before and fully expect him to change. Other penguins fans agree Kapenan playing on the top 6 would be like Sheary, and honestly he would compliment guentzel and crosby well.

Kapenan would be that defensive wing on Crosbys right and be a perfect fit on that line like sheary was.

In general underlying numbers rarely mean anything in todays hockey as some players with good numbers do not make good top 6 and others who have average to below actually make good top 6

"perfect fit on that line like sheary was. "

That's not at all what Sheary's role was? It really sounds like you have no idea what you are talking about. Kapanen's lack of hockey sense has a long been a knock on his play.

"In general underlying numbers rarely mean anything in todays hockey "

Lol wtf.
