More depth and defence for Winnipeg while more high end talent for mtl

If Bergevin can extend Tatar beyond next season I would rather have Tatar than Ehlers. Straight up.

Don't really understand what's in this for Winnipeg

Ehlers is from Denmark, not Finland so the title, "More Finns" is a bit off. Also, not much of a return for Winnipeg.

That would be a no from Winnipeg that they wouldn't have to think over for very long.

Ok I thought that was a pretty hefty package sending our leading scorer and young promising dman Mete with already 2 years in the nhl (which Winnipeg surely needs) and 2 decent picks on top of that. Ejhlers is a good player and the type of guy the Habs covet but is he that good?

Being Montreal's leading scorer doesn't really mean much when he'll be 30 when next season starts and he's a rental. That along with a small, bottom pairing defenseman doesn't get you a young, first line winger with a team friendly contract.

It isn't a good return. Ehlers is one of the better players in the league at zone entries/exit and comes at a reasonable cap hit and good term. To say it is a good return is fanciful, Tatar doesn't fill a need (looking for C not LW) and little term and Mete is a 3rd pairing defenseman.
