Description

I’ve seen the same trade at least 20 times today: Mantha for Domi+Mete+Pick.
Detroit has no reason to trade Mantha at the moment. Mantha hasn’t said he’s unhappy or requested a trade and Detroit hasn’t said that he’s available.
Mantha was on pace for 74 years and I know injuries blah blah but if he could stay healthy next season and score at the same pace, he becomes a youngish 70-point Power Forward and his value skyrockets (I’m not saying that I think he will reach 70 points but I’d like to see what he could do in a full season).
Domi and Mete don’t particularly interest Detroit as they don’t match up with our cup window any better than Mantha does. If Montreal were willing to offer a top prospect (Romanov, Kotkaniemi, Suzuki) it would be a different story but obviously that wouldn’t make sense for Montreal.
Basically, there isn’t a deal to be done here so please listen and hopefully I won’t see 50 Mantha trades tomorrow.

It would make most sense for Detroit to acquire a top pick or prospect if we were going to move him (The whole point of moving him would be to get pieces that better fit our cup window). I don’t think any of Montreal’s top young guys are available (correct me if I’m wrong) so I’m not sure. I would have been interested in 8OA if Montreal lost in the play-in but now that pick is at 16 which isn’t as enticing. That’s why I don’t really see a trade with Montreal working out at least for now.

I wish everyone would read this post and then you can add in johnsson, Dermott, holl, bjugstad, Murray, JJ, to this list. Just cause a team has cap space doesn't mean we are gonna use it to help other teams for free

I was hoping for a generalization of what they'd want like pick/prospect type thing. I asked about Kings aquiring 15OA from TOR for Walker/Roy+ then flipping 15OA and Kupari for Mantha, but your offer is better

If we are moving Mantha we’d want futures/prospects. Our only strength is RD and to a much lesser extent wingers. So centers and LD would be of the highest interest. I’m not sure how you ranked your prospect system but you have a ton of attractive pieces. Moving from 4OA to 2OA, so we could select Byfield/Stutzle would also hold value but not at the expense of Mantha since 4OA should net a solid prospect also.

I’m not sure what value you’ve seen for Bert but he’s that smart 2 way gritty player on the second line of a contender. Mantha hasn’t reached 50 points because fighting/fluke injuries but none of them have long-term damage. He’s been on pace for 70+ for 1.5 year now. I traced back his previous 82 games back to Jan 6, 2019 and he has 30G 42A.
