Description
Just experimenting with what it would take to upgrade the canes top 6 and goaltending. Is this enough for Domi, im not entirely sure how he is valued coming off a down season. Also unsure on Georgiez, was thinking about adding a prospect instead one of the picks but i couldnt decide on one

see Kapanen package

Id say thats pretty close to the Kapanen package. A decent middle 6 forward (much better than Rodrigues), a prospect the canes are pretty high on, and a 2nd and 3rd

Not every GM is as stupid as rutheford. That was a total overpay by the pens

you are missing a 1st round pick and i am sure Hallander has more value than Tuukka

Nino at $4.25M is bad

Nino around 4 is about right in my opinion. He is coming off a down season, but can produce in the right situation. I mean maybe the canes would take out the second and 3rd and do a 21 lottery protected first. At that point i think i would walk personally

yeah that's the real takeaway here. I'd say Suzuki + late 2nd gets it done if we're being conservative.

I really dont see the canes parting with Suzuki, he is our top forward prospect and the canes are very high on him. The eye injury suppressed his point total this season but he was great towards the end of the year. I think we would be more likely to move Bokk, who is probably closer to the NHL

Flames want an improvement in net, a legit starter. I wouldn’t say Mrazek is better than Talbot or Rittich.

Mrazek can go anywhere i just put him on a team that could be in the market for a goalie

You seem to be missing the difference between Domi and Kapanen, as you stated Domi just had a down year 44pts in a shortened season. Kapanen’s career high in a full season is 44pts. You may think JR overpaid for Kapanen, but regardless, Domi is worth significantly more than Kapanen, not a package that may be getting close to what the Leafs got for Kapanen.

I think Domi is worth the package that Toronto got. I think that package is pretty comparable. Instead of getting a 4th liner and a first, you are getting a second line guy a second and a third. The leafs may have gotten a little more upside long term, but the Habs would be able to replace Domi with Nino while also picking up assets for the future. I think the prospects in both trades are of similar value

I think it really depends on if the Canes are still trying to develop Necas as a C. If they are, I think that makes it kinda tough for Suzuki with Aho/Staal/Necas all locked up for another 3 seasons. If they're keeping Necas at the wing, then it makes more sense.

Would think Rees/Drury/Puistola get looks before Bokk after his mediocre season in the SHL. Also downgrading from Suzuki to them means that 2nd moves toward a 1st.

For sure the Domi is worth the package, the package isn’t worth Domi.

Nino was a healthy Scratch and a 4th liner in the playoffs. No thanks. With his contract he’s a negative value to the trade.

1st >2nd + 3rd
Hallinder> Tieksola

Evan Rodriguez will either sign for the leafs for half of his QO or walk as a UFA.

Leafs got three things pick, prospect and cap space.

Your package is lesser picks, a lesser prospect, and a detrimental Cap player for a player in Domi who is more valuable than Kapanen.

Nino was scratched once because he is not a 4th line player. He got shuffled down the line up because of Justin Williams coming back. While Nino had a down year, he also had a 50 point season the year before, something that Kasperi Kapanen has not come close too. With the retained salary, his contract becomes much less of an issue. 4 mil is pretty much what he should be getting paid. So that piece of the trade is far more valuable than Rodrigues. The prospects in my opinion are about equal, and i think the canes would consider doing a lottery protected 2021 1st instead of the second and the third. Compared to the Kapanen trade, the Habs get a replacement for Domi (i know not of equal value, but nino can play as a second line winger) while also getting future assets

Yeah if the Canes want Georgie, they're gonna have to overpay. Not trading to a team within the division, especially for that package.
