MTL is not a great trading partner for Laine...The only players that would be accepted are JK and Suzuki...

It's not awful honestly. I would tweak pieces. But 16th this year should hopefully turn into a great piece. The issue is with it being quality for quantity, and we know Mantha works well alongside Larkin and Bertuzzi. How well Domi fits in is unknown.

This is a fair offer but Detroit has no interest in trading Mantha so they decline. I've seen a lot worse so thanks for at least adding a 1st round pick.

What does Detroit want exactly? Mantha can't be considered totally untouchable, what is Detroits biggest need.

Is there a player they could trade Mantha for to fill that need or would trading Mantha just create too big of a hole?

Biggest need is elite talent. Mantha has that, his shot is the best on the team by a country mile, so trading for a need is challenging here.
My best guess is something like Caufield, Domi, 2020 1st.

Poehling, Domi first this year and primeau. The thing is Detroit doesn't want to move him and he plays amazing with Larkin, he's about to become one of the best power forwards in the league. If we don't want to move him, it would take such an overpayment by montreal to make us move him. I know this is ridiculous and a huge overpay, but it's this or no deal really
