Is this value for Ekblad

Created by: Russell_C
Team: 2020-21 Toronto Maple Leafs
Initial Creation Date: Aug. 28, 2020
Published: Aug. 28, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Swap Mikky and Robertson if you must. i like Russian wingers together on the 3rd line, Mikky can bark at Baraby in Russian if necessary.
Competent 4th line. Been there done that, will punch you in the face if it comes to it.

SJS trade doesnt need to be to SJS necessarily, just looking for a low 2nd or top 3rd, SJS has both and can make the point.

#15OA

Florida wants to cut cap significantly
Total cap hit for 3 NHL ready players & 1 top RD prospect:
7.263M, less than Ekblad, I know ekblad is the best player in the deal, however this could give FLA a chance to trade off some other contracts seeing as the cost of Ekblad could fill 4 rolls in the lineup. PLUS they get the first.

I dont know if im going to get roasted for underpay overpay or both.

AND if necessary feel free to take out any of the TOR pieces, likely Engvall, if you see them without value.

Idek if I'd want Ekblad tbh. I think the leafs are better off patching up in free agency with some unusually cheap contracts bc of covid. As for the value, it's definitely a 'futures' trade imo. Nothing that really makes the team BETTER (esp when giving up Ekblad), but I'm also not a florida fan so idk.

I disagree. Think this is what you would have to give up. But it’s too much for the leafs. That contract kills our depth as well.

I like the Kerfoot trade, Sharks need a 3rd line center. If it was in my hands Sharks accept.

Would it help if I called Ekblad an okay depth Dman? Seemed to work for you to hand wave our offer away like magic.

I think with some luck, Ennis and Mikky could put up 35pts a piece. Barabanov at 20 points if he really does well? Veteran 4th line isnt too shabby, puck movers who could punch ya
I think the leafs will need to sacrifice their forward depth to balance out a bit.

15OA, previous first round RD prospect, 20 goal scorer, competent 3LD with room to grow, Engvall.

Edit: quoted wrong person originally

So what’s the issue? I can understand them not wanting to move ekblad but it’s not because the package isn’t fair.

Thanks for being constructive! You would be good with giving up the COL 2nd?

I’m genuinely insulted that the assumption is that 3rd is going to be early lol

Leaf fans are way to overconfident in their own players lol. The Panthers are on the verge. They ain't giving up a top pairing defenceman for a bunch of spare parts. If Sergei plays well the Panthers are contenders.

You are vastly underestimating the quality heading to FLA in the trade

Not over confident. Just realistic. As I said earlier this trade wrecks the leafs depth... so no they are not spare parts.

I also pretty plainly said that I completely understand panthers not wanting to move ekblad. But you seem to be pretty hung up on demeaning leafs players so have at it I guess.

Ownership has asked them to cut money. Personally I think they do it in other places rather than top tier guys.

Stralman would appear to be a better target. His contract is not very good. Leafs may be able to use financial motivation to make a trade that works for both parties.

You are proposing Marner for Ekblad 1 for 1?

No, but the Leafs can't afford him without moving out a big piece.

We could make it work, but like Jamiepo said, it would cripple our depth.
What type of Marner for Ekblad trade are you thinking, who is adding what?
