Very bad deal for LA.

Winnipeg already used up 4 years of control on Laine not to mention Byfield and Stutzle are both expected to be better players.

You gotta pay a big premium for all those ELC years you're buying.

I wouldn't add to Laine for 2OA because of the risk that Byfield busts. With Laine you know he scores in the NHL and is in the top 10 goalscorers of all time at his age. He's more of a sure thing.

People always drool over the pretty new toy, but there's no guarantee that the prospect pans out. A lot of risk for the Jets in a deal like this so I'd want one of the Kings other Center prospects as well as 2OA. They have a pile with Turcotte, Kupari, Thomas, Madden and Villardi.

I'd suggest Laine for 2OA + Villardi and see what the response was. I think it's fair and would pull the trigger on that to fix the Jets down the middle for years to come.
