Jack Johnson buyout scenario

Created by: GloryPlay
Team: 2020-21 Pittsburgh Penguins
Initial Creation Date: Sep. 1, 2020
Published: Sep. 1, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I used some moves I had seen in other scenarios. I'm not sure if that Murray deal is the way I would go but it does bring in some center depth or at least center options depending on where McCann would end up. A Jack Johnson buyout seems logical but with Rutherford's insistence on not admitting that was a bad deal that move seems the most unlikely of all the moves in this scenario. This isn't the flashiest of AGMs but it does seem semi-plausible.

Additional Details:
This move is purely a cap dump. Not quite sure if Bjugstad would need a sweetener to be paired with but for the sake of this scenario I'm keeping it player for pick.

Would you rather buyout JJ or dump Murray and a pick to get rid of him

I'd prefer attaching him to murray and a pick

Penguins won't be trading for a 33 year old, we can be assured of that. Let alone a rental.

Probably not. It was just a move I saw in another scenario and I wanted to test it out and see how the other moves play out from there.

What about GMJR's post-elimination statements lead you to believe that he has any intention of buying out Jack Johnson?

If you read my explanation on this I clearly say a buyout is probably the most unlikely move of the moves I made. I just did the buyout because it seems like the easiest way to move on from Johnson and I also just wanted to see how that scenario played out.

Fair enough. I didn't see that part originally.

Buffalo might ask for Riikola as part of the Bjugstad deal. They could use a LD.

No, but compared to option of right now, buying out Johnson is not a good cap move.

Yeah neither keeping Johnson or buying him out is a very good move. This was just a scenario where he was bought out not something I would be for but just wanted to see how the situation would play out if it was done
