Jets probably say no, they want a center but no way Buffalo gives up Cozens either

Jets say no. Risto is pretty much a negative asset now

they would have to be really high on him and think they can get his career back on track. I could see a Laine + cap dump for 8th ovr, Mittelstadt, one of Montour/Miller/Risto, + another solid piece

No logic here for either team IMO. Buffalo needs a C/RW and play makers, they have goal scorers Risto doesn't make any sense to package with a 1st. He is at the point of being a short term pick up and the first is a long term fix. However drafting Lundell before Minny can take him would be pretty enticing but probably not at the cost of Laine

Buffalo probably only trades 8th overall for Anthony Cirelli.

dont even compare laine to olofsson laine has been on pace for 30+ goals every year and is 3 years younger olofsson just had his rookie season laine is at least 3X better than olofsson

In theory acquiring Laine is a nice idea for exactly one year at 6.875 then his next contract comes up so unless you can dump Skinner or Okposo it's just a nice dream. So after next season you have to pay Laine, Dahlin and Jokiharju and there's little to no chance to rid yourself of Skinner or Okposo. You can't pay 3 players 30+M and expect to be able to fill other holes. Look at what Toronto is going through.

Olofsson was on pace for 64 points and 30 goals.
They both have a big shot, but don’t do nothing much that well.

If I were the Jets, replace 8oa with Cozens and Risto with Jokiharju and it would be something to consider.

The deal would make little sense for the Sabres though.

Read my above post...there's no way the Sabres can afford Laine after his contract runs out. If Skinner is getting 9M don't you think Laine is worth at least that if not more. If a team were to OS Laine the Sabres would be franked.
