Sabres Bring in Hartnell

Created by: mikeyscav
Team: 2016-17 Buffalo Sabres
Initial Creation Date: Sep. 23, 2016
Published: Sep. 23, 2016
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Columbus has many young forwards they want to get up in the big club but the spots are filled with veterans. Buffalo right now is pretty weak on the LW and decide they could use a veteran power forward with finish in Scott Hartnell. He is getting old and is expensive but buffalo can afford it and has a need on the wing of Eichel and Reinhart. I feel he would gel with those two perfectly. Columbus gets a reliable defender in Franson, a solid prospect in Cornel, and a middle draft pick in compensation.

Quincey is signed as a cheap veteran defensive piece who is very solid for the bottom pairing. Played on the right side with DeKeyser last year in Detroit

Quincey wont sign for $1.25 million for 2 years it would take at least twice that, And Hartnell just stated that he's now not going to waive his NMC he wants to finish his career with Columbus.

Even if Hartnell hadn't just stated he's staying with Columbus, that is a downright insulting offer. We lose a very useful asset and gain several useless ones.

It's kinda meaningless what a player says in public. What else would Harknell say as a member of the CBJ? IMO Harknell would be willing to traded, and the CBJ would be glad to trade, if just to get more cap space and to restart another rebuild. Hartnell might even be willing to be exposed in the expansion to play his last two seasons in Vegas as opposed to Columbus, though I know Hartnell does have value as a player to the CBJ.

But he wasn't asked about his NMC. He contacted Jarmo to retract his trade list. He willingly said it. It wasn't asked by media. I think he sincerely wants to stay here.

Lol i hope all CLB's NMC's don't waive there trade rights. Same for any team. If you gave NMC's you should have to honor them and should pay the price for doing so. The player has the right to agree to it but he shouldn't be "forced" to do it. Threatening a player by taking away other rights in order to get them to waive their NMC for example.

What in the world are you talking about? The only NMC player we'd actually want to get rid of is Clarkson. Hartnell was a reluctant possibility before the buyouts in June, but now that that's taken care of we want him to stick around and help out the kids (which he's damned good at; see: Dano, Marko). Dubinsky still performs acceptably, Foligno is considered likely to bounce back to his pre-AllStar numbers, and we haven't given up on Bob quite yet.
