So many problems with this. First of all, that is way too much to give up for Gaudreau. And why would they give up a 2nd round pick for Stalock? They can easily sign a goalie of equal level for cheap on the UFA market. Next, there is no way LA gives that much up for Ghost. His value has plummeted. Finally, no way Arizona is taking on JVR's contract without some sort of sweetener. OK I think I'm done.

Flames decline. If you're not going to include any quality pieces (Konecny, Frost, Farabee, Myers) don't bother trying to get him. We're not sellers and we're not shopping him

Zamula has a lot of value not sure which rock you are living under. But do agree that Patrick is not a valuable piece with his injury concerns and would need to be Frost involved.

Kind of reminds me of when Apollo Creed broke Rocky's nose at the conclusion of the 1st round in their 1st fight together. And when Rocky asked how it looked Mickey replied, "Ah it's an improvement." Though painful, these trades would improve Philadelphia.

Zamula might be a decent prospect but we have no need for left shot defensemen. We have 4 NHL quality LD already (3 of whom are 23 or under), plus a promising college free agent we just signed. A package including a 2RD and/or young forwards with top 6 potential is what it would take to get Johnny.

Zamula has been a left handed RD has always preferred the right side. But all that is understandable. Doubt the Flyers make a move for Johnny not really worth it, can just try to sign him in 2 years

I agree. There is no purpose for the Flyers to get Johnny besides just exciting the fans. He doesn't move the needle for us enough for the price Calgary would want. Konecny outplayed him this past season so he would be a no. I can't see Farabee either. Fletcher may be willing to include Frost on a deal, but I wouldn't myself. Like I said Johnny is a good hockey player, but his skillset and what he brings doesn't really impact how our roster feels.

It doesn't make sense for Calgary either unless we give up a really good piece like you're talking about, and I just don't think Johnny is worth to us what they'd need to part with him. Just one of those things where it doesn't really make sense for either team right now unless one budges on the value of him.

As long as you are leaving Giroux and Jake on this team, you haven't improved anything. I am not anti-Giroux I just believe his leadership and talent has declined. Jake needs to go.
I understand they are hard to move in a trade and replacing them would be difficult. But trade them for whatever you can get and sign Hall. We need more speed with the ability to put up points.
The leadership needs to change in that locker room.

1. It’s not too much it actually may be too little in terms of NHL ready talent
2. Stalock is a great backup on the minimum which makes him
an uber valuable asset. He’s worth somewhere between a second and a fourth.
3. LA has extra picks and Ghost would fit in well there.
4. Taking almost 12 million and dollars off AZ’s books when they’re trying to slash salary is helpful. They get close to 5 mil in relief and get a useful player for Hossa and Stepan’s bad deal.

It’s not painful. It’s just complex. The on ice team would be far better and far equipped for next offseason when they need to sign Carter and start worrying about Couturier’s raise.

For that price I'd rather be getting Ehlers or Laine than Johnny Hockey. I get it, he's from Jersey, but that doesn't make him more valuable lol
