Cap hell for NYI

Created by: Goreton
Team: 2020-21 New York Islanders
Initial Creation Date: Sep. 10, 2020
Published: Sep. 10, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
2020-2021 :
Keep Komarov this year (expensive but acceptable)
Boychuk in the AHL (4,925M instead of 6M)
Trade away Ladd which will cost NYI a lot

2021-2022 :
Beauvillier, Bellows and Sorokin to sign
Trade away Komarov and let go M. Martin (I know it hurts)
If Sorokin becomes the starter then trade away Varlamov
Maybe buy out last year of Boychuk's contract or trade him if they want to pay for it

Not nearly enough value on the cizikas/Leddy trade
Even worse value on the Wild trade
Probably costs the isles to get rid of hickey not get back a mid rounder
No chance isles play Wahlstrom as a C
No chance isles go into the season w that dcore

Man you don't need fair return for those trades, you need the space. That's the point.

Cizikas is a huge part of the Islanders I have no problem w not getting large value back on Leddy but huge no to cizikas

Hickey the isles need to pay more I’m saying

And pelech is a HUGE part of the islanders no 2 ways about that moving him is an absolutely massive unforgivable mistake

Don't you think that the Isles can't afford paying that much for a 4th line center? Pelech is that important? I'm just saying if they want to keep Barzal they gonna have to make some difficult choices otherwise they might lose him.

pelech is 100% that important, more likely move komarov to cizikas for sure and not re-sign Martin then buyout Cal imo

the wild have no interest in bringing Cal back. The only trade in the future between the NYI and the Wild involve Parise and nobody is going to win that trade.

Montreal rejects. We don’t have cap space for Leddy next year, and while we’ll take Cizikas, we’re not giving anything of value for him.

I don't see Montreal, San Jose or Ottawa having the interest in those players. Ottawa is cheap AF they aren't going to pay a guy like Ladd for a first rounder two years away. You'd have to attach something of actual value (Ho- Sang does not count).

Doesn't Barzal on a bridge deal make more sense? I don't see him signing an 8-year for 9 million when you look at what guys at shorter lengths got last year. He's going to want to use Marner as a comp for sure. Point, Laine and Tkachuk all signed for around 7 million for 2 and 3 year deals. Yeah I get it's a flat cap, but why would he want a long-term deal in flat cap land? He'd be better doing a 2-3 year bridge (maybe 5-6 mil/year) and waiting it out once the cap goes up again. It would help your issue now, because if he signs for 8 (which I doubt) he's going to want over 10 easily.

It would be very tight with Cizikas yeah. But not impossible.

Leddy's play looks very good right now. I was surprised by his speed. He would look good with Weber.

I think he would be picked up by Seattle next summer (I protect Weber, Petry extended and Chiarot). Or he could be trade away. Or kept if any UFA doesn’t resign.

Probably Bergy's plan F, but would improve the team none the less

2years of Leddy is OK for MTL... ISL need to add Bailey as Whalstrom good play 2RW... for that same MTL package (Change Kulak by Mete maybe)

I guess so. But I still don’t think we should pay this much for a one year rental, when we aren’t trying to win now. And I’m not sure that it’s worth disrupting the great chemistry between Kulak & Petry.

Dont get me wrong, there is a lot of problems with this trade in particular. I was just saying that the Leddy to Montreal idea (Usually for a 3rd) was concievable and more appealing with his playoff success.

I think fine tuning to a lot of the trades but Wild is a no go
