Trades
1.
BUF
  1. Danault, Phillip
  2. 2021 2nd round pick (MTL)
Additional Details:
Obviously Danault needs to be extended for Buffalo to make this deal.

Danault is pretty much exactly what Buffalo needs. They probably overpay a bit here but it's in-division so that has to be expected. Had 1st for Danault and a 3rd. Bunped it down to a 2nd and added Mittelstadt.
MTL
  1. Mittelstadt, Casey [RFA Rights]
  2. 2021 1st round pick (BUF)
2.
BUF
  1. Matheson, Michael
  2. 2021 2nd round pick (FLA)
Additional Details:
Florida would love to get out of this contract. Buffalo needs to take a gamble at LD.
FLA
  1. 2021 4th round pick (BUF)
3.
BUF
  1. 2021 2nd round pick (CGY)

There are better LD options. They don’t need Matheson for 6 years when they have Bryson, Samuelson coming up soon.

You’re missing the point of any possibility of us trading Danault or Domi. We’re doing it because we have too many centres. Why would we trade Danault for another centre especially one that hasn’t shown much promise. You’re a division rival if you ain’t giving up this years first then don’t even pick up the phone.

I actually meant to do the 2020 first but apparently picked the wrong year for the team setup. Mittelstadt just changed the 3 coming back to a 2. Danault and a 2020 3rd for 2020 1st was the intention before the Mittelstadt tack on and the year issues...

You can have Thompson instead if you want him.

Not defensively. The issue with him in Florida is he's overpaid for what he brings offensively versus what they thought he was going to be.

A little too much for Danault due to the lack of an extension.

Also there is no reason for that Florida trade. We don't need to take a chance on a LD and aid our divisional rival with their cap problem.

Bergevin would definitely be very tempted by this years first that’s for sure.

Sabres should absolutely do it if they can get an extension. 1 for 1 if they have to.

I’m very torn on Danault his defensive ability and 5 on 5 play is amazing and is built for the playoffs. I’d be very sad to see him go and really I only think he goes if he’s trying to get a big time pay. Even if he becomes our 3C the guy will always have an important role on the team. Ultimately I think it will likely be Domi who gets traded. That 8th pick could also give us a very nice young player that could add on to our young core. Sorry for rambling but man Berge is in for a hell of an off season and I am reallly antsy to see what happens.

At least it's good news. Buffalo is in for a hell of an offseason too. Sounds worse and worse every day...

You’re right they’re in an interesting position for sure, honestly I’d love to see Buffalo and Montreal make up some serious ground on the leafs, Lightning and Bruins. All the best this offseason and here’s to making our mark in the Atlantic.

Obviously Habs could get more for Danault at TDL. Not extended. Obviously.
