Ekholm has played right side and he is exactly what Toronto needs a very good defensive defenseman but I don’t know if poile would go for that package

I think Poile would be open to an Ekholm trade, but it would cost more than this for him to pull the trigger.

I was just making this to show somebody an idea , was just trying to make the $ work and I didn't put too much thought into the trade but I'd assume Nashville would like that pick but maybe want a forward prospect or maybe even prefer Johnsson rather than Dermott... idk something like that. I would love Ekholm as a leaf tho.

Hard to say. Obviously Liljegren would be of great interest to NSH, but it's hard to imagine TOR wanting to include him as part of a package for Ekholm. If Poile were to make Ekholm available, I'd be surprised if there wasn't a pretty good bidding war for him. I'm sure any non-rebuilding team would love to add him, and his bargain contract isn't going to price any interested teams out of the running.

Thats a good point, I totally misread what you said for a second lol... his contract probably makes his value even higher now that its gonna be a flat cap for at least the rest of his deal. Do you think he's gonna slow down soon?

I don't see him slowing down soon. If anything, I thought he was less than his best this season, due to playing with a rookie he didn't seem to have much chemistry with. If NSH keeps him and Fabbro together, I imagine they'll be a much more effective pair as they develop better chemistry and Fabbro makes fewer rookie gaffs. Personally, I'd like to see if Josi and fabbro can play well together, because Ekholm & Ellis used to be so good together. They only got split up when Subban came to town and his style didn't mesh with Josi's. It's hard to fathom Ekholm dropping off in the two years remaining on his contract.

It's just a 20 man roster. I would rather just sign (if possible) DeMelo if and then the Leafs keep the 1st rounder and then trade an asset forward like Johnson (very little return) to get cap space.

I'd really be pushing for Ekholm if I was Dubas ... he's everything the leafs need in a defensive dman, he doesnt shoot right but other than that hes is a great fit imo... but if I'm nash I'm not moving him lol

Yeah, I think that this is more along the lines of what they would actually do. I really just made this as an example to show a friend. I would love Ekholm as a Leaf tho.

Ekholm would be a good option and I"m sure Poile would be open to trade him but i don't think that's a good enough return. If Poile made him available, there's enough teams that could use a defender of his capability with his great caphit that it could drive the price up.
