Both Montreal trades are a no from the pens. Letang is an elite top 2 RHD on a good contract. Domi wants to be a top 6 center. He can’t be that here so he is useless to the pens. Need to stop trading him here (both pens and Habs fans). Especially need to stop treating Domi like he is Crosby paying an arm and a leg for him.

Who's rumored to be on the way out? Definitely not Bennett. The deal is instantly declined as soon as you add your cap dump Johnson to the trade

Pens should start rebuilding sooner than later imo. When you have players like Crosby, Malkin, Letang, I can understand that Pens GM wants to try another year, but the longer they wait the less they will get in return when trading those players that could replenish pitsburgh prospect pool.

I've been advocating for two years now to use malkin and or letang to accomplish that goal. they can still be a good team and not absolutely suck in 3 years...

The Lemeuix's and Domi's are close friends. For some reason Tie and Mario are very very close, like as close as Tie and Sundin which is weird cause they never played together from my recollection.

Make Miletic Aston-Reese instead and you have a deal.

No I’m living in the present. Letang is an elite D and RHD is currently not our strongest postion while C and LW currently are which is what Domi is. Who is going to replace Letang playing 26-30 minutes a night? Who is going to replace him as QB of the power play? No reason to trade an elite top 2 RHD and our best defensive forward for a middle 6 center/LW who won’t be able to find his way into a top 6 center spot (which is where he wants to play) or even a top 6 LW spot for that matter.
Domi isn’t a player that can take over the reigns by himself to keep the pens competitive. The realization is that after Malkin and Letangs contract, the pens likely suck for a few years.

That same owner also wants to keep the core together. So no reason to pay a fortune for a luxury like Domi.

we will have to agree to disagree-I think Letang or Malkin needs to be shopped they will suck in three years but dont have too if done wisely.

They don’t need to but our gm gives away first round picks like Halloween candy so we are lol. And I honestly think Malkin goes back to Russia after this contract and finishes his playing career there. Letang might re-sign a cheaper deal or retire after his current contract. The thing I hate about the Kapanen trade is that it wasn’t made at the draft. If Askarov and Schneider were taken by pick 15, then I could see using that to bring in a RW. Or if they would have used that pick in a package to bring in a real top 6 RW rather than a 3rd liner they hope gels with Crosby.
