Just makes no sense finically for Edmonton. If he only had one year left on his deal I could see some interest but the second year completely complicates next offseason with a could very significant extensions to be handing out. I just don’t understand that one nor see how can make it work without a big loss. I could see jersey being mildly interested.

It’s not that bad really. NJD probably adds a pick...or other small piece.

I think it’s actually a decent deal. 1-1. Oilers paid hall for larsson it’s not much different. Many consider that a horrible trade but reality is it worked out better for Edmonton than it did jersey.... Quality d are the most expensive piece to acquire but tend to be worth it. It’s only a painful price until you begin to see the rewards from it. In the oilers case I credit that trade for the proper development of youth. Ability to shelter young guys is crucial for there success.

Nylander-for-Severson would be good for both teams...and it would be harder for NJD to replace RHD. But they have cap space, prospects and picks to do so.

Nylander-for-Subban +1st was also interesting, but both sides wanted none of it.

Nylander for Severson is an awful trade for Toronto.

Well I don’t see why Toronto would want subban or be willing to pay that price I get why say no to that but if that severson deal is on the table it has to be looked at and within 2-3 years leafs fans would be claiming they won the trade. Some times it takes loosing a trade on paper to take the next step forward on the ice.

Subban deal was some 'rumor'...doubt that fits.

I get it that fans like scoring wingers, but they need a d-man. Pietrangelo doesn't fit. Most UFA's aren't any good.
