Would CGY be interested in varlamov

Team: 2020-21 New York Islanders
Initial Creation Date: Sep. 22, 2020
Published: Sep. 22, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Risky move by the isles, but if they seriously think Sorokin is the real deal we csan re-sign Greiss.

Woudl CGY be interested? If so, what would they give?\

Ignore the Minn trade, I just think it's fun to keep it alive.

Man, I get it but that Parise contract is not something you want on the books in a few years.

Probably, but Greiss is going to sign for more than that. Halak kinda set the "low bar" for a quality two-year backup, but Greiss is likely to figure in the $2.5-3M range. Komarov should be enough to help Sorokin adjust to life in and around Long Island.

You gotta pay that cost to get rid of Boychuk. I don't think the Isles work in any capacity next season without getting Boychuk off the books.

The Ladd contract is one you don't want on the books now. lol

If Parise waives to go play for Lou, do you honestly think he's not going to be on LTIR when his actual salary drops in 2 years? He's not playing the last 5 years, why would he?

Halak signed a 35+ contract so his AAV is $3.5M, he would have probably signed for that if had a standard contract. Greiss should target that since he's not 35 yet.

The base salary and signing bonuses are going to be the bare minimum for most goaltenders that are going to be on the market for a one-year deal.

Flat cap's a weird time and teams may try to push for those one-year deals. There's a chance Greiss could opt for one if there's more money to be had in two one-year deals instead of one two-year deal: if that second contract is laden with performance bonuses, he can still take his chance to win and get paid for it.

Varley and Eberle can't be moved this year anyways. They both have full no trade clauses. After the season the Islanders just had I don't think either of them would waive it.

Good point. Eberle I knew of, Varlamov I did not.
