No. Reports from just after the lottery suggested that due to the German connection and the positional needs of the Kings, that they were leaning towards Stutzle. After the Yannetti interview came out in The Athletic last month, it seemed more likely that they were leaning towards Byfield. At this point it's pretty much a coin flip and anyone's guess, but my inference from all the press that has come out of the Kings organization is that they are leaning towards Byfield. There's still nearly 2 weeks left until the draft, so there's plenty of time for that to change again.

Yeah all I've seen is just meaning less speculation. I don't care either way anymore.

Yeah let’s take the guy who isn’t a good skater, a bit undersized 2nd overall. They say he’s a sniper but had way more assists than goals this year

I must’ve misinterpreted what that meant coming from that interview. Either or, I’ll be happy with both players.

Raymond will be the Pettersson from this draft.
Stutzle will be the Draisaitl.
Byfield the Malkin/Barkov
Lafreniere will be the Huberdeau/Marchand

I think Vilardi is better suited as centre. Just make a trade. Turcotte, Walker and a pick for Laine if you do draft Byfield

Stutzle is not going to be Draisaitl. Draisaitl has an elite shot and is a perennial candidate for the Rocket Richard trophy. Stutzle's shot is "below average" at best.

Henrik Sedin is a more accurate comparison for Stutzle.

Vilardi will continue to play center. If the Kings take Byfield, they're going to move Turcotte to LW.

Brand new article from today. If anything it just pours more cold water onto any speculation of one player over the other:

Kings ‘pretty confident’ in who they’ll take No. 2 in the NHL draft

As a Sens fan I’d love both but Stutzle would leave doubts in my brain about who would be our 1C

That's pretty much exactly where the Kings are.

Kopitar is obviously a 1C, but he won't be for much longer. I give it 2-3 more seasons before he moves his way down the lineup. Vilardi is promising, but he only has 10 NHL games in his career. He may or may not turn into the 1C the Kings need. Turcotte is more of a 2C. He'll be an exceptional 2C if he lives up to his potential, but he's not a 80+ point guy.

Byfield gives the Kings the 1C of the future that they need and allows them to focus on other areas in future drafts.
