You read the 1st one?

Also Donato for a 3rd has been suggested my a Minnesota fan multiple times, this is an upgrade over that trade. Duly noted though.

Just because it's been suggested doesn't mean it's good. He has more value than a third, if to no one else then to Minnesota.

That’s fair, but I only was saying that to state my rationale. I don’t necessarily disagree with you.

I can see Donato being moved for something similar to what you proposed, but personally I think Minnesota would regret it. He has a ton of skill and a great shot. He scored 14 goals this season playing fourth line, 10 minutes per game, with grinders. I would prefer to keep him unless it's a package for a top 6 player.

Yeah that’s exactly why I’d be interested in him lol. Give him better minutes on a better line, with some actual playmakers and he could be a 20 goal scorer. Why did the Wild consistently play him on the 4th line though? I really don’t understand that. I’d be fine ponying up a 2nd for him, but it probably shouldn’t come at the expense of one of our other good forwards to be honest.

Well Guerin said he kinda got an unfair treatment, but he also said that about Victor Rask so I don't know if it means anything.

Defensively he isn't great, and he gets knocked around a lot. He's can't really handle the physical aspect that well. That's why he was bottom six, to "shelter" him.

I meeeeeean, letting the Wookiee return to the place of his birth would be poetic as hell, but I would want more than a 2nd for him and I don't think the Wild want him at all, not even with his magnificent (and very Wild) beard.

Donato is a player you add to a bigger deal or 1-for-1 type of deal for a positional need with another team. I don't see him being traded for picks this season. At worst he plays a similar role this year in MN as last year and is an enticing player for Seattle to pick or be bribed with.

He really doesn't hold much value as a trade for picks only.

Oh...yeah I totally agree. That trade wasn't supposed to be realistic, it was just to move them somewhere. So that's why I said "placeholder team" in the additional details. And the return was basically just the bare minimum I'd expect for them. You could trade Burns or Sorensen to a team that might be interested, but yeah Minnesota wouldn't be a good landing spot since they already have Spurgeon and Dumba lol

I think our best and possibly only chance of moving Burns any time soon is going to be if we expose him at the Seattle draft, and unless he falls off a MAJOR cliff next season I don't see that happening. I'm pretty sure it's going to be Simek on the block, unless we find a 6D that Doug can sign for 2 years to flip - which I wouldn't put past him. Otherwise I'm afraid that we're stuck with him, potentially for the long haul - that contract is just so bad that even buying him out leaves us with a $6m cap hit, and that 3 team trade list that Doug was suuuuuper liberal in throwing around is really just another NTC. frown
