Aiming for playoffs again

Created by: KingsLover
Team: 2020-21 Columbus Blue Jackets
Initial Creation Date: Sep. 26, 2020
Published: Sep. 26, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I think this team could definitely give the best teams in the league a run for their money. With Trots' coaching + bringing in skilled forwards like Domi and Hoffman they could be great on both offence and defence. Add in a great goaltending tandem of Korpisalo and Merzlikins and this team should compete for the playoffs and the cup (although making the playoffs will be tough in the Metro).

Also if Grigorenko flops again in the NHL Texier is down in the AHL to bring up.

Trades
1.
CBJ
  1. Domi, Max [RFA Rights]
  2. 2021 3rd round pick (CHI)
Additional Details:
The Jackets get a guy in Domi who is a very good top 6 forward who yes has some questions with his Diabetes and having a down year after his career high season in 2019.
MTL
  1. Anderson, Josh [RFA Rights]
  2. Robinson, Eric
  3. Vehvilainen, Veini
  4. 2021 4th round pick (CBJ)
  5. 2022 2nd round pick (CBJ)
Additional Details:
The Habs get a good buy low candidate in Josh Anderson who in 2019 had 27 goals, and season of 19 and 17 goals before that. He probably signs a 1 year 2.5 mil deal with Montreal, so if he doesn't workout with the Habs he'll become a UFA at the end of the year.

Robinson is a nice bottom 6 energy forward who can be there for the Habs with injury replacement, or if they need somebody to come in to provide good play to the bottom 6.

Vehvilainen is a goalie prospect who shows good potential to be a solid backup or at worst a number 3 option.
2.
CBJ
  1. 2020 2nd round pick (DAL)
Additional Details:
They have a buttload of picks, and Columbus desperately needs some.
OTT
  1. Murray, Ryan
Additional Details:
Send get a good top 4 D who if healthy, and that is a decent if with his injury history, can really be a significant asset to the Sens.

Ive done a Domi to CBJ trade before and I had less value, but people roasted me frown and said there needed to be more value. I think since CBJ is getting back a 3rd it sort of makes the value even.

I don't see many teams giving up a 1st for Domi.

I wouldn't like it tbh. Domi is not THAT great, Anderson is probably the better player IF healthy or at worse they're close to equal in value. Im really high on Robinson and I believe he's a middle 6 forward who just hasn't gotten a chance yet, and Veini is legit so far. Not to mention giving up a 2 and a 4 and getting only a 3 back. I would be upset with it tbh

I think a Domi/Anderson trade is a doable thing. It's probably a little more complicated than a 1for1 deal, but I think those 2 can be the basis of the trade (maybe swapping some draft picks is all it takes. I don't think the Habs are interested in the spare parts you've listed.

CLB isn't picking until 21. Could a swap of 21 for the Habs' 47 be enough to get it done?

I think he's better but not THAT much better man. Anderson yeah had. a BAD year, but injuries really hampered him.

The difference is quite huge, Domi on 82 games is a 50+ points player. Domi career year 72 points

Anderson ~35 points on 82 games with a career year of 47 points.

A down season of Domi is 44 points, which is Anderson career season.

Texier is either gonna be 1LW or 2C this season, putting him in the AHL so you can commit big dollars to Mike Hoffman seems… unwise.
