Description
Not going to do a big write up for this one. I admit some ideas might be a little out there but i think this team is one that could do well with the combination of offence and defence but admittedly the goaltending leaves a bit to be desired. The draft picks area great haul for a team thats going to need cheap players to come up in the next few years.

As always let me know what you think and we can chat.

Dang.... I mean that Reilly offer is reallllly tempting. I think I have to begrudgingly accept if I’m Gorton.

That’s what I’m thinking. They seem to be going for it with their core and young players and after dumping Staal they could use another Lefty. It’s a steep price but for 2 years of Rielly I think it’s pretty close to fair for both teams.

NJ and OTT decline

Why? Friedman said NJ is looking to deal one of pick 18 or 20 for a young(Under 26) player with term and team control. Johnsson fits that. And Ottawa has no goalie and needs to hit the floor so paying $1M in real cash but having it count as $5M on the cap sounds real nice to them.

I think if Johnsson had a decent year and didn't get hurt it may fit the request nicely.

He had a bad year and a bad injury. His value has dropped because of this. NJ most likely declines.

I like the top six and the D core you have put together here.

I hate the bottom six.

The goalies are a wash IMO.

Not bad.

Totally fair that Johnssons value is less and may not guarantee a pick back but I feel he’s going to get loved anyways so some return of a pick is close to this. But his value has fallen and it may not work perfectly.

The top 6 and d are certainly the key parts of this team. I could see them trying to balance things as well and maybe slide Nylander down a line to give it more pop and move milheyev up or something. I feel like barabanov is going to surprise people with how good he is. And maybe he makes the 3/4 line look better. Ifs for sure but they have some flexibility.

Yes the goaltending is a wash but I think with a full year of Keefe and a d core that’s all mobile this could be a way to run a goalie tandem that’s cheap

Johnsson would never get a 1st. A 2nd maybe....more likely a 3rd. Leafs would be selling low on him....might as well keep him.

Johnson is not worth a 1st round pick that is why, and OTT has 2 goalies on 1 way contracts this year they do not need soon to be UFA tender
