I think the Calgary and Vancouver trades are fair and meet all three teams' needs.

I like the Dubnyk thinking. With Philadelphia potentially losing Elliott and Dallas potentially losing Khudobin, and a couple of other goalie vacancies opening up, I can see this sort of deal happening. Even Detroit might take this flyer. My only criticism is that you were thinking about the scheme so much you didn't notice you were typing "2020" instead of "2021."

Wow. Yep totally missed that, guess I'm still wishing it were 2019 and not 2020 shakes head

Sure that's relatively accurate last year, but he's coming off a torn pec and wasn't scoring. That's Dumba's problem: when he doesn't score, he pinches in the offensive zone and forces plays which takes away his best defensive attribute, defending against the rush (which he's very good at). Two seasons ago he was dominant on a nightly basis and was our best defenseman since he was scoring and didn't feel the need to pinch and was then able to defend against the rush. The season prior to that he was nearly as good, he definitely belonged on the top pairing. That's what you're trading for with Dumba and he showed signs of that player during the play-ins. I get that you're a Leafs fan and don't want him in Toronto, which is fine I don't think he's the best fit in Toronto eother, but blatantly ignoring what he has done in his career and focusing on his stats last year is just downright ignorant.

He did say he doesn't think Dumba is a AHL player but said nothing about the murdering his family charge. Perhaps we should just respond with the "I'm sorry for your loss." By all accounts Dumba is a real nice guy so it doesn't say much for his family. If I were a betting man I would have pick JEE as the killing type. Lol

Haven't read the comments but these are my thoughts.

I think we could get a 7th rounder for Dubnyk if we retain half. Not that I'm going to be upset if we retain him for nothing, but I think we could at least get something from a team that hopes he bounces back.

If Dumba for Monahan is relatively fair, I don't see why we need to add Kunin on top, especially if the piece coming back is a bottom pair LD. If the Wild still need to add to Dumba for Monahan, which I'm not sure they do, it shouldn't be Kunin.

Gaudette is interesting because he has a lot of offensive potential, but he's already 23 and is still a LONG ways from being a competent center in the NHL. He most likely projects as a RW, which is fine, but it's not really worth trading Greenway who is just as good, while taking on an extra 2M per year for a press box winger. Say what you will about Rask, and he's not worth a lot, but the fact that he's a center is at least something we can use.

@TanSor out of curiosity, what do you like about Gaudette? Having not watched him specifically I just pulled up stats and advanced stats and he seems to be about replacement level over the last 2 years. His advanced stats have him at about the same level as Rask, so again, what do you like about him?

He's younger than Rask, much faster (Rask is painfully slow), right shot, and a center (so is Rask but I think Gaudette has more upside). Plus our head of scouting apparently picked him so I'd imagine there would be some intrigue by our front office. I don't think he's the perfect player by any means but with that trade I was mainly looking for a youngish right shot C to move Greenway for and Gaudette fit the bill.

Thanks! Appreciate the explanation. Rask isn’t that old, but he’s old enough to know that his upside is probably hit. And yes he is painfully slow ( Him I have watched). I like the idea of a RH center... but my focus hasn’t been on the 3C spot because of our obvious 1C problem.
I am so-so on Monahan. Definitely an upgrade, but I am hoping that BG can bring in something better... maybe I am unrealistic in my hope, but I am hopeful nonetheless.

I'd be happy with Monahan. He has multiple 30 goal seasons, he's big, skates well, great in the face off circle, and can make plays as well. His defense leaves a bit to be desired but we have Ek to take care of that side of the puck. Wish he were a right shot but that's not a huge deal. He's more of a fringe 1C but with wingers like Fiala, Kaprizov, and Zucc (who I think could revive his career with Monahan) he'd have enough playmakers to produce
