Easy no from the Jets.

Think about what you'd want from WPG in exchange to Barzal. Then translate the value of the said deal, because Barzal and Laine aren't that far off of each other in terms of value.

Do you think they should make marner a center?

While it may be a no, I don't necessarily think it's an easy no. Barzal value higher because he means more to the Isles than Laine does to the Jets

It doesn't mean that Barzal has more value than Laine - it only means that the threshold for NYI to move Barzal is higher than what it is for WPG to move Laine.

I'd say their value is still close to equal, and any team going after Laine should consider the fact that WPG has no need to move Laine and they're not taking any weaker offer than what the said team in question would take for their own star players.

Yea Barzy will be fine I just like to imagine how good he'd be if he still had JT lol. Don't blame you either, they're easy targets

Hard to say. I'd like to say Barzal+Ladd for Laine+Perreault but I know NYI fans hate the idea of moving Barzal, and they do that for a reason. That'd never work.

I don't really know whether NYI has the assets that'd interest WPG in some manner, because almost all of your TOP6 forwards with the exception of Barzal are already in their primes and reached their ceiling, which is not the case with Laine at all. At 22, he can still be considered very much a future asset as well as an established elite sniper... I'm not a fan of moving younger and better guys for multitude of older and worse ones...

Maybe a move like this?

Winnipeg Jets
Ryan Pulock
Anthony Beauvillier
Oliver Wahlstrom
2021 1st round pick

New York Islanders
Patrik Laine
Kristian Vesalainen
2021 3rd round pick

My version is like the Walmart version of your trade lol. Don't think I'd be willing to part with Wahlstrom Beau and Pulock all in one with a 1st. I think you'd have to swap out one of the guys in my trade with one of the guys in the trade you suggested to get Isles to think about it.

I'd be willing to add Niku or someone equivalent in value to the trade, but honestly if I were Cheveldayoff then I'd say it's this or I'm folding and waiting for better offers. 22yo players in Laine's level are pretty much never in the market, so I'd be expecting a total ransom out of the guy. Keeping him isn't a bad option either...

How about we give WPG Ladd, Boychuck, Eberle, and Leo and they give us Ehlers and Laine? For real though I'm curious to see what the actual offers from other teams are and I'd also agree that keeping him would be good. I really like WPG team...close to being elite

That is brutal for the isles. We give up our best defenseman , our best winger, our best forward prospect and a 1st. Isles wouldn’t even do pulock + beauvillier for Laine.

Suit yourself. I know you're not the biggest fan of the guy.

I don't see him costing any less than that though.

The goal of acquiring Laine is to make the isles a better team. That trade makes them significantly worse. It’s not bias, pulock alone probably provides equal value to what Laine would bring.

I think WPG will get a good return for him considering he was a #2 overall pick and he had a 40 goal season - he’s a very good player with a unique skillset, but it’s known that WPG doesn’t want to pay him what he wants and they don’t want to put him with scheiffle long term, which is why Laine wants out.

Think Laine is a very wrong target for the Isles if they're not willing to make drastic moves to land the guy...
