I have no clue why SJS are interested in Dub. That's $8m-$10m (depending on retained salary) tied up in bad goalies.

Dontao is worth a flyer if he's cheap (no more than a late 2nd) and they'll give him a chance at meaningful icetime.

Only way I'd be ok with adding Dubnyk is if MIN retains 50% salary.

Dubnyk's negative value without retention basically wipes out Donato's value. Maybe take out the 3rd and it's closer.

So retain Dubnyk at 50%, he no longer has negative value, possibly even has positive value is SJ thinks he can rebound, and the price is closer to a 2nd.

I don't see any way the sharks would be interested if we didn't retain half of Dubnyk's cap... If they are Wilson deserves the axe

With the high quality goalies available in FA i have no idea why he would do this.

Only thing I can think of is there's an out for Jones somewhere and they need a better established guy to split the load with Dell. Outside of that, I agree it makes little sense.

Dell is UFA and very likely not re-signing.

I think if they can move out Jones they would bring Dell back at a discount (has already said he'd be willing to take one to stay). You can't bring back the Jones-Dell combo for a third year after the bad results in the prior two, but if you can move Jones out it makes sense to bring back a known goalie (who played really well under the new staff) for cheap so you can upgrade elsewhere.

Bringing Dell back is a major mistake. I am 99% sure it’s not in the books.

Now that reports are out that they're expecting Jones to rebound back into a #1, then yeah I agree. However, Dell was the better goalie for most of last season (stats bear that out) so not sure it would be a huge mistake if they could move Jones (which is likely impossible). Sounds like they're looking to run Jones and another veteran starter next year though based on Lebrun's article today.
