That PIT trade is atrocious, Calgary is giving up the two better players and taking a terrible contract, and the Bruins one is worse, Rask is good but an old, high cap hit rental has much less value than a young, affordable top 4 D locked up for several years.

I'm sure he still has something left in the tank. But you want a 24 year old on the cusp of breaking out who's shown flashes of being a really good player.

teams don't trade young players starting to break out for guys who are 37. If you don't realize why he has more value, that's on you.

This deal needs less Mikael Backlund and more something actually useful to us in the future. The 1st is a good start. Add a good young roster player or good prospect.
