Description
Can someone explain to me why we draft another goalie and if we want absolutely to pick one, why didnt we trade 2x 4th round pick for a 3rd round pick and selected nico daws instead assuming he's a better goalie and we have plenty of picks.

So just explain that to me why we picked a goalie. I dont talk here of a first round pick like askarov or the facts that we have too many LD prospects like for the selection of Kaiden guhle because at this moment he was the best player avaible. I dont have a problem with this pick but the goalie one in 5th round again i just dont understand this one, so tell me i missed something.

Look in th LITR how many goalies do we have in the organization.

It's a 5th round pick, not that big of a deal. Goalies are unpredictable anyway so it's just another lottery ticket

Camp and back to wherever he played last year, and McNiven or Lindgren possibly lost to waivers, and Allen possibly one and done, this pick is probably a project 3/5 years away. Just a guess on my part

Take the 6’4 goalie what do you have to loose. You trade your two fourths and you lose biondi and smith. Not worth it

Not sure either, was having this convo on another thread here aswell... Seems to me to be another Nissen Dichow not sure why they wouldn't try to move up a few spots in the 5th and draft one of the fallers such as Tyler Tullio, Evan Vierling, Brett Berard or my personal fav of the bunch, Martin Chromiak. Strange move by Timmins and the crew for sure.

I don’t get passing on peterka. He’s a solid player with skill and size. Can be a middle six guy and is friends with your 3rd overall German kid

Take a shot on a 6’4 goalie late, why not. And logically in round four most guys won’t reach the nhl so you take your higher chances with smith and biondi compared to a faller. I like chromiak but not sure I like him enough to lose those two

as mentioned above, it's a lottery ticket, you can also add him being an insurance policy. If Price's career end next season by a bad injury or whatnot, having a bunch of G prospects will be needed at that point.

Who do you think out of the bunch you mentioned will be the biggest surprise? I feel like Gunler or Peterka shld have been 1st rounders

Nobody said anything about losing those 2 players... I'm talking about NOT drafting another goalie (Dobes) and instead packaging that selection with the 2020 7th round pick we traded to Chicago to move up 10 or so spots to take one of the guys I mentioned above. That would be taking your "higher chances" like you said because they were all projected to be 2-3rd round picks.

I don’t get either but Dorion is seem to be building an identity of tough to play against and every pick has to have intangibles and/or go to UND and/or be friends with anyone on our roster lol. I don’t get it but that’s what he’s building haha

Wait, so Hoglander is good in your mind I hope right? That's a tough call I would probably want Peterka because he has the GER connection with Tim, but damn a Hoglander at 6'2" would be electric.

With goaltenders you never know. In the late rounds you might hit on another Primeau, or he might not ever play. It doesn't really matter, it's a late pick. If he becomes good, then he becomes a trade asset in the future
