The strategy is excellent: upgrade from Holl to Weegar and save cap by exchanging Kerfoot for Gaudette. The problem is that you haven't paid enough for either player.

Why Weegar? He's a right handed LD. I get that in theory he could just be put on the right side and adjust, but wouldn't it make more sense to find someone used to playing on the right side?

Both.

Make sure that they're A prospects or second-round picks.

There is another team involved as well. Vancouver's prospect pool doesn't have many centers and Gaudette fills an important role. There is no reason for the team to trade him.
