(a) WPJ declines
(b) If you have Mackinnon and Laine on the same team, it is almost a sin not to pair them up. Elite skater and playmaker + elite shooter is a match from the heavens

No chance the Jets make that trade.

True, but do you break up the proven best top line in the league for it?
I would probably say yes, but who do you bump down? Rantanen?

Edit: Jets Decline, so this is all hypothetical.

Avs can't afford Laine long term, He's going to want $10 mil+ and with both Landeskog and Makar needing new deals next summer that leaves Laine out. He's not going to be dealt within the division and those pieces don't get him anyways.

Johns is probably going LTIR, so I don't see Dallas doing trading him for Donskoi's $3.9M cap hit. They really can't afford it anyway. Dallas will be able to get Johns' $2.35M cap hit off the books once the season starts. Until that point, they are going to be air-tight against the salary cap. Donskoi's cap hit would cause a ton of issues when it comes to re-signing Hintz or Gurianov.
